Redskins vs Bucs GameDay Thread

If you had told me before the game McNabb throws 2 TDs and 0 picks, Torain runs for 172, and our D holds their running game in check, I would have thought definitely a win for the Skins. Just so frustrating how it seems at least one phase of the game holds us back on a weekly basis.

Not to have gotten more from Torain's best day as a pro performance is a little disheartening. Not being able to finish drives is the chief culprit.

True, but this game was about more lost opportunities than just the kicking game. The end of half clock mismanagement really gave the bucs hope, we score a td there & it's maybe a different game. In general the red zone O wasn't sharp. Both td's were on 4th downs, which they deserve a lot of credit for, but it shows we had trouble there too.

I also don't like to criticize db's for being in position to make plays, but usually Hall makes that pick in the 1st quarter & has 6. Fletcher also dropped one.

They were one in the same basically. We left an easy 7 points out there on teams alone.

This is the moodiest team I've ever seen. They change from being brilliant to pathetic almost on a drive by drive basis. First half was awesome. And you know what adjustments the Bucs are going to make at half time. But then we don't adjust accordingly to those adjustments and play right into their hands. Man handled in first half, then not a single first down till half way through the 4th. It's very peculiar to watch.

The announcers said we mismanged the clock but we got to run our three plays and try for the FG so waht was actually mismanaged? It didn't look that smooth but we had plenty of time.

Didnt we get a delay of game penalty coming out of a time out? It was a complete f*ck up by mcnabb and shanny.

And we gave them a short field on the kickoff fumble which they scored 3? So thats 10 pts...i think, dunno i was drinking heavily at that point

Yeah, I thought about that too. It would have been interesting to see more play action in the second half to throw off whatever changes the Bucs made. But then you'd hear criticisms about going away from what worked.

You are correct they did get a delay of game but as far as the game clock we had planty of time to run our plays. The announcers acted like we ran out of time and had to go for the FG with downs left because of the clock.

1) They let the time wind down way too far before calling the timeout

2) got a delay of game after the TO which moved the ball back

3) Didn't williams get out of bounds on his 3rd down run? if he hadn't then the fg unit has to rush out, i.e. they almost created a potential rushed scenario which was totally uncecessary. I know they want to keep the other team from having time, but make sure you give yourself a chance to score first.

did anyone else notice how sundberg our long snapper was zipping his snaps yesterday? on a punt in the 3rd quarter he zipped the ball and i told my lady "dang that boy really zippin that ball right there". i didnt think much of it as i complained about our weak punt protection a lil earlier, i actually predicted a blocked punt b/c the bucs seemed to be getting good outside penetration. so i didnt think much of it, chalking it up to atleast hes getting the ball back there in a hurry b/c the bucs were coming.

any way the wet turf allows for a speedier take off/snap? less resistance?

yeah i couldnt understand why the announcers, moose, was going on and on about it. i was starting to make tacos so i wasnt 100% paying attention thoo.

it was 3rd and goal and we let the clock run down to 20 seconds remaining before calling our last timeout.

i dont understand why we got the delay of game thoo. was there something wrong with mcnabbs headset? that wouldnt even matter if you called a TO and talked about it unless we wanted to change the play at the LOS.

shanny said something about 2 time outs and he didnt call the second time out or something, his explanation was confusing but i think he was saying someone upstairs wanted to call another timeout which you cant do b/c we didnt have anymore and you cant call 2 in a row. but idk, seemed like there was confusion for sure.

shanny's press conf was a bit confusing
