mooby 12-07-2010, 03:15 PM Well, at least he won't be a distraction for the rest of the season, and at this point even I would be willing to take w/'e we could get for him. If nobody gives up anything for him and he just gets cut, I'll just hope he becomes a dominant player again for his next team so we can get a draft pick for him.

i dont think you get a draft pick for a player if you cut them, they have to be a free agent and sign elsewhere.
So does anyone still side with AH?
DynamiteRave 12-07-2010, 03:21 PM Pockets Straight may have weeped today. I know he is/was a big AH supporter.
I mean, I can understand the suspension, the guy has been a plague all season, but there's no denying when he was healthy, had his head in the game and was actually utilized, he was a force. Unfortunately, times like that were few and far between.
Better luck somewhere else, big guy.

Ah, you might be right on that because I'm definitely not certain. In that case, look on the bright side, he won't be ****ing up our team chemistry any more, and hopefully all the guys we'll have in here next season will be team guys.
Bushead 12-07-2010, 03:26 PM Man. What an interesting turn of events.
He wasn't happy last year in the "type" of 4-3 the skins ran and he sure wasn't happy with this faux 3-4 they run now. There is such a gap of difference between him and other professionals. I understand not being happy in the system, but he was everything to be "his" way. Just look at his comments on the radio show:
"I want to show how I can play. They paid me this money, let me play like I played in Tennessee. I will show you. I made a lot of plays in Tennessee; I can do the same thing here. All you got to do is take off the dadgum leash and let me loose and you will see how great I am."
I understand a player wants a defense to play to his strength, but it seems Haynesworth wants 10 other guys to do what they are suppose to while he can do whatever he wants. I'm sure other defensive players would like to be doing something else (like Andre Carter), but you haven't heard anything from them.
Fletcher would never say I expect to blitz on 75% of all downs because that's what I like to do. Haynesworth just isn't a team guy.
GTripp0012 12-07-2010, 03:32 PM So does anyone still side with AH?Depends. I'm not exactly sure where AH's side is right now.
As far as the Redskins mismanagement since the beginning of the season, this move merely beats the horse that died in August. Maybe it was the only move to shut him down for the year. You're 5-7. It's not a very strong statement.
Jontrem 12-07-2010, 03:42 PM Sad that it came to this, but easily predictable

If you cut someone, no compensation.
CRedskinsRule 12-07-2010, 03:44 PM I tend to drink a lot of KoolAid, so I know many will say I am being a ridiculous homer, but I understand and support the way this was handled.
You have a rare talent, a guy who could be elite, but who, as Terl showed in his blog I quoted, also a guy who has given half a** attempts, and belittled nearly every coach and scheme he has had. I have no doubt that Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan would NOT have brought AH in. They didn't bring in Peppers, they didn't bring in VJax or TO or other possible headaches. So let's be clear on some facts:
1) AH was the past FO's hire, Not BA/MS
2) During MS' year off, he decided he was going to implement the 3-4 D wherever he goes, because it is in his eyes the better D.
3) AH has a level of talent, that when applied could be elite
4) AH never has had a full season where he applied himself game in and game out.
5) AH got a lot of money
6) MS told AH upfront that if he took the bonus, this is what was expected.
7) AH took the money
8) MS is the Head Coach
9) AH is not.
I think those are the underlying facts, now, how you want to handle that situation, maybe it goes differently, but I doubt it. I think MS had to be tough and not give in, for the sake of the Team. I think giving away a talent like AH is a very difficult move, and the cost benefit analysis probably reflects the tough decision. For the right value I think you trade him, but for the wrong value, ie too little, why give another team his service this year? Sure you won't get much or anything now, but a 4th isn't a comparable trade value. So you really are stuck trying to make it work out in a situation where no one has a good reason to give ground.
For culture purposes, this should put to rest any notion that the Skins are a come and not give effort type club. That's a good thing.
I don't really care about the money - its not mine.
I had hoped that AH would show up - he didn't.
A 4-3 may have gotten us how many more wins? not enough to justify AH's behavior.
If a defensive change was to be made - this was the year to do it.
In the end, I just want the Redskins to make sane hiring decisions, the lunacy just needed to end.
