SirClintonPortis 12-06-2010, 11:33 AM When Shanahan wants a pet project to work, he's going to try to make it work no matter the cost. Sadly, he should have considered the costs, as we could have had much better value for Carter and Haynesworth than what we'll probably fetch now.
SmootSmack 12-06-2010, 11:45 AM Oh it's certainly good for the culture of the team, but to get nothing for him after supposedly being offered a 4th rounder a month or so ago is bad on Shanahan's part. We're hurting for draft picks as it is.
But hey, for all intents and purposes we already flushed $30M+ down the toilet with this guy. What's another draft pick?
Well, as I recall it was conditional and it wasn't only for Big Al.
I'd be surprised if he's actually released before the end of the year, but I'd also be surprised if he plays another snap for the Skins.
He clearly has to go, if not now then once the curtain falls on our season get him outta here.
SFREDSKIN 12-06-2010, 11:50 AM Shanahan is not going to let "fat Albert" have it his way which is releasing him, this way fat Albert wins. Shanahan will keep him on the roster and will handle it a different way, maybe come up with an injury and put him on IR. He will not be released, you think Shanahan wants him to catch on to a playoff bound team?

It is pretty annoying we're going to flat out cut him, considering Tennessee reportedly offered us a 4th rounder for him. Another gaffe by Shanahan.
Now that this news is out, we won't get a side a rice pilaf for him.
Consider Shanny's predicament, he's in his first year as coach/gm. He's got to change the dysfunctional culture of the team & at the same time make the most of the assets before him. Since AH agreed to take his $20 mil bonus & play in the 3-4 Shanahan had to commit to making things work & getting the most return on Snyder's huge investment (which Shan. & Allen didn't have any part in). Snyder will not be happy either way, but if Shan. shows that he made every effort to get him to buy in, at least he can tell the danny that AH had worn out his welcome.
Also, taking a one-sided trade offer is not good for future bargaining. He & Allen have to let the nfl know that the Skins are not going to do deals like Vinny did. So far they've been pretty good in that regard.

I would like to see him "keyshawned".

But hey, for all intents and purposes we already flushed $30M+ down the toilet with this guy. What's another draft pick? :doh:Shanahan completely mishandled this from the beginning of the season. If the guy was such a malcontent, you can either:
A) Accept whatever you can get in a trade, or if you aren't offered the value you desire,
B) Play the guy to build more acceptable trade value.
The first mistake was Snyderato giving the fat turd $30M+ in the first 15 months, but not accepting a 4th rounder, then deactivating Haynesworth in a third of the games is just plain stupid. In hindsight, cutting him for nothing on Sept 1st would have been far more productive than cutting him now.
scott.sharrer 12-06-2010, 12:09 PM Chris Russell always spurns up some cockamany story that has no truthful backing to it. Fat Al is not going to be cut this far in to a season. They will wait till the offseason and try to get something for him. Shanahan tried to make it work, but Fat Al is a premadona and it was never going to work out for both sides.
BigHairedAristocrat 12-06-2010, 12:12 PM The sad thing is, mcnabb has played so poorly he probably has as much trade value as haynesworth does at this point (i.e. None)
SolidSnake84 12-06-2010, 12:13 PM This is great news. This loser needs outta here on a 1st class ticket. The skins should have never signed this guy...last true mistake outta the cerrato era....
