Something tells me we may see a few more quick screens to Banks and Moss as pseudo running plays
Portis Officially Done for Season-Placed on IRSmootSmack 11-24-2010, 03:04 PM Something tells me we may see a few more quick screens to Banks and Moss as pseudo running plays skinsfaninok 11-24-2010, 03:16 PM I remember getting cp's jersey when we first traded for him. He's one of my favorite Redskins ever.. Had a very good career just age caught up to him. I doubt he ever starts again in the NFL. GTripp0012 11-24-2010, 03:21 PM Unfortunate, considering that even though Portis was an effective runner on Sunday, this was entirely preventable by letting him heal another three weeks. And he was a guy I think we could have really used down the stretch against the Giants. This is still a throwing team, even without CP laying people out in the backfield. It just becomes a little bit harder. sportscurmudgeon 11-24-2010, 03:35 PM It's been said in other threads already by myself & others, CP could prolong his career & help the skins a lot as a 3rd down rb. I hope that's the case next year. Like some other positions on the team, the lack of investment in youth is really showing at rb. At least Allen & Shan acted quickly to get some guys in. If he is going to be a "3rd down rb", he is going to have to take a humongous pay cut - - like maybe 80% of what he's averaged over his contract to date. Does "Portis" and "Take a humongous pay cut" even belong in the same sentence? :cheeky-sm I think he'll probably shop around where he can get good money and if not being a starting back, somewhere he can be a 2nd string back that'll still get a good amount of carries. scowan 11-24-2010, 04:13 PM Unfortunate, considering that even though Portis was an effective runner on Sunday, this was entirely preventable by letting him heal another three weeks. KLHJ2 11-24-2010, 04:19 PM Damn, you would think that this was a memorial service for the late CP. I don't think that he will be going anywhere until he is officially the Redskins All-Time leading rusher. SmootSmack 11-24-2010, 04:42 PM I don't know much about groin pulls, but he was already our 5 weeks? How long does it take to heal these things? As I understand it he tore an ab muscle in Sundays game so it's not related to his groin tear. BleedBurgundy 11-24-2010, 04:48 PM As I understand it he tore an ab muscle in Sundays game so it's not related to his groin tear. That's actually worse, imo. Indicative of how much wear and tear his body has taken. Dude's made plenty of money, probably should just move on to the next phase... perhaps associate professor of diction at the U. rbanerjee23 11-24-2010, 04:54 PM I think we should keep him as a backup for next season unless someone gives up good value for him. |
