Ex-Skins Receiver To Return....BrudLee 12-04-2004, 06:17 PM Chris Doering. What? PSUskinsfan11 12-04-2004, 06:19 PM Gari Scott from preseason MTK 12-04-2004, 06:25 PM Derrius Thompson sportscurmudgeon 12-04-2004, 06:26 PM Maybe I'm the only one here old enough to have seen him in his prime, but Bobby Mitchell was just an outstanding WR. Big,fast. great hands, and ran with the ball after he caught it, Like Charley Taylor, he started his NFL career - and played his collegiate career - as a running back.. MTK 12-04-2004, 06:37 PM SC, how would you rate Mitchell and Taylor vs. guys like Monk and Clark? sportscurmudgeon 12-04-2004, 06:44 PM Matty: I think Mitchell was the best of the four. Taylor and Monk and Clark are all excellent WRs and it is hard for me to separate them. If you force me to do that, I'd take Monk then Taylor and then Clark. But remember, the differences between these three is VERY small. IMHO... jdlea 12-04-2004, 06:50 PM 2 words: Ricky Sanders! SmootSmack 12-04-2004, 07:47 PM Looking back on it one guy I sort of wish we kept and who is still playing in the NFL today is Keenan McCardell cocoajoey 12-04-2004, 09:33 PM Gary Clark he's a alsome player he chould go over the middel and catch the ball and get hit and do it again! joecrisp 12-04-2004, 09:41 PM It would be a close call for me between Monk and Henry Ellard. Monk is one of my favorite all-time players, and he could always be counted on to make the clutch catch on 3rd down and keep the chains moving-- something that has been sorely lacking in the Redskins offense. Ellard is another one of my faves, and he's also another receiver who spent his career moving the chains. Working with the fabulous trio of John Friesz, Heath Shuler and Gus Frerotte, he was able to post three consecutive 50+ reception, 1000+ yard seasons for the Redskins from '94 through '96... Plus, I'd love to see another one of those post-touchdown backflips he was famous for. I just wish one of these guys would come back and show the current bunch of stonehanded receivers how to catch. |
