So how do we feel about Ryan Mallet? I've seen a couple of highlight tapes and I'm awestruck by his ability. Especially the jump between this year and last year. To me he's like a hybrid of Joe Flacco and Big Ben. Unfortunately in interviews he doesn't seem to be all there and this is coming from a guy that frequently doesn't look like he's all there. Personally the interview part of the combine is probably going to hurt his stock which he'll probably balance out with a great performance in the drills or throwing at his pro day.

By the way one more thing this team needs is to use a mid round pick on a running back. I'm sure theres someone graded out in that 4-6 range that could be a healthier version of Torrain.

Agreed. I would say Shanny has an okay past in finding late round RB gems.

Being a Maryland fan, I know I'm biased, but I really think a guy that could be had late that could turn into a beast is Da'Rel Scott. He reminds me a bit of a poor mans Clinton Portis when he was first drafted. Outstanding speed and quickness, not overly big (5'11" 200lbs) and has some shiftiness. He could probably be had in the late rounds or possibly even as a FA but I feel he'll probably get drafted in the 6-7th round area.

I would like a RB pick in the mid round. I think someone already mentioned his name-Noel Devine. I think we need to add speed in the backfield and this guy has it. Great hands out of the backfield and this guy is elusive too. He is in the same mold as a Dexter McCluskter, but I think a better prospect. Devine is a big play talent...I think your looking 3rd-4th round pick at this point.

I would be very happy if we got Mallet in round 1 and Justin Blackmon in round 2, although I'm not sure Blackmon makes it out of the first round. He's a freakin beast.

I don't know about Mallet, but I love that kid Blackmon and his teammate Kendall at rb for Okie st. Both of those kids are ballers. Honestly I don't know if I like very many QB's that are coming out this year other than Luck, and it doesn't look like he will be there by the time we pick.

Do you really want to go the WR route again? It's the most hit or miss position in the draft. Look at Calvin Johnson. Has he made Detroit any better? Nope. They're still a bottom feeder. Gotta get some linemen first.
I think AJ Green is very good. I dont think he is as talented as Calvin Johnson. But his hands are incredible and his run after the catch is really good. I think he is a playmaker and also a great redzone reciever.
I dont see any O-Linemen at our pick...I see a really good DE at Clemson and 2 really good CBs who maybe availible. Overall I dont see great talent in the first half of the draft outside several players.

Yeah, I'm not seeing how this QB thing is going to line up for us. Sure, if we want to take Jake Locker in the first round, we'll be able to nab him in the middle of the round. But that wouldn't be much of a pick.
If Luck, Gabbert, and Foles all stay in college, I would avoid a top round QB in this draft just on the strength of the 2012 draft class. If the choices are to pick up Jake Locker and lose a bunch of games, or to lose a bunch of games with Chad Henne/Matt Leinart/Matt Moore/Carson Palmer at QB and possibly be in position to land Andrew Luck in 2012, lets take the latter route.
If Gabbert and Luck both come out this year, next year's draft would appear to be very weak anyway, so then I'd support taking the best available QB in this draft and doing whatever it takes to make him successful.
Yeah, I really dont know outside of Luck a good QB pick in the first. Have you seen Mallet or Locker play this year? I saw both twice...all four games were not impressive. Locker is flat out horrible. Id give Mallet a long look, but his decision making is questionable IMO. Not questionable is his arm...its a cannon. His completion percentage this was higher than I thought it would be...but Id take Mallet over Newton and Locker.

I think this guy would make an interesting NT (has the size and build) and sure looks good tonight.
