I think its absolutely amazing what im reading online that 4-5 QBs could be taking first round vs. the talent pool of QBs. wow
I think it's more hype than reality. I think we'll see 3 go in the 1st for sure, 4 tops. Newton, Gabbert, Locker, and maybe Ponder near the bottom of the 1st. More likely Ponder goes top of the 2nd.

Exactly, and honestly what happens if teams see their first choice of QB go early and possibly their second? You don't think they don't have a 3rd QB on their list for those teams really needing a QB?
For some reason I just get the feeling several will be gone possibly prior to our pick at #10. Panthers, Bills, Bengals, 49ers, Cardinals, all could use one and I have this bad feeling there is going to be a feeding frenzy all of a sudden. Maybe won't happen but I could see teams trying to get their QB situation settled early since there really is no clear cut winner sitting out front. Then there is the rumor the Vikes and Miami are trying to move up to get one.
Could all be bluff but I could actually see several go in the top 10.
redsk1 04-22-2011, 11:58 AM I think we're in a good spot no matter if a few qb's are taken in the top 10. If that's the case, we should have some real good position players available at our spot. That should garner some interest from other teams. Of course, we can select a top player there too. We're in a good spot. I'd like to see us accumulate some more picks but hey, either way, i'm ok.

It's because of no free agency/player trades possible. With those, we would already have Vince Young, Minnesota would have Kevin Kolb, Arizona would have Carson Palmer, Titans would have Kyle Orton, Miami would have Donovan McNabb, etc (disclaimer: the preceding are all hypotheticals but you get my point)

Good point. But from everything I've heard, teams aren't changing their approach to the draft based on the lack of free agency. At least that's what they are saying, we'll see if the draft actually reflects that.

Yeah I think that's BS. How can they not change their approach?

Yeah, thats kinda what I thought...means some serious talent could slide.

Heard Dalton could be draft 1 round too...

I think it makes some sense. I don't think teams will want to reach for a need. Especially at QB given the uncertainty of the CBA right now. There's just not going to be enough time to get a rookie ready to play right away. There's going to be free agency at some point, and when there is I think teams may end up overpaying or will be more aggressive than usual to get their guys.

See I think in a way not having enough time to get a rookie ready to play sort of helps. Because then, in our case for example, let's say everything was back to normal in July, we can play Grossman and not feel the pressure of starting Locker or even playing him right away because there's not that expectation of "oh you drafted this guy at 10, why aren't you playing him?"
It's almost like we're redshirting him for 2012.
