Good luck with that.

A drunk Jeff Reed would be better than Suisham. Reed has struggled, but if they think Suisham will be better...they have not seen anything yet.

Shaun Suisham Practices For First Time After Replacing Jeff Reed

PITTSBURGH -- Newly signed kicker Shaun Suisham joined his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates at Wednesday's practice, as they prepare for the upcoming home game against Oakland on Sunday.

Suisham's last NFL appearance was in a Jan. 17 playoff game last season.

He's expected to quickly fill some big shoes with the departure of the Steelers' second-leading all-time scorer, Jeff Reed (http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/sports/25801791/detail.html), who was cut Tuesday.

Related - Jeff Reed Getting Calls, Waiting To Clear Waivers (http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/sports/25827851/detail.html) Channel 4 Action Sports' John Meyer reported that Suisham has had his own bumps on the way back to the NFL.

Suisham was not resigned by the Dallas Cowboys when his contract expired after last season, and he moved to Greenville, Ohio, with his wife's family.

Suisham said on Wednesday that his mother-in-law died about 2 1/2 weeks ago, so he's thankful for his recent time spent away from football.

Suisham last kicked at Heinz Field during a workout in 2005. He has prior cold-weather experience with the Washington Redskins.

He has had an up-and-down career (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=9361), starting with Dallas in 2005 and getting cut midway through 2006, then catching on with Washington, where he stayed until being cut in December, then bouncing back to Dallas for the rest of the 2009 season.

I really figured the Steelers were smarter than this, because they usually do their homework on players....

Reed is just another idiot kicker.

Suisham is obviously not the long term answer, but I think they just had it with Reed's mouth and his misses this year.

Suisham is eventually going to find a home. He's like a lot of young kickers that get kicked around the league early in their careers. Could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble had we kept David Ackers.

Reed has been pretty bad, plus he's a moron. Shanks a 20-something yarder and then starts complaining about the turf and fans, etc etc.

I don't really see how Suisham will be any worse.

I laughed my ass off when my steeler fan coworkers told me they signed him. I said anything over 30 yards is like roulette. Anything over 40 is just not f'ing happening.

All jokes aside, Suisham will probably be like every other player we have let go...he will find his role on the team, become a valuable contributor, all the while gaining MVP honors and probably making a bunch of Pro Bowls.

That's sarcasm. It wont happen probably with Suisham, but it sure has happened to alot of other players that has went through here...
