Offense is worse than last year. Defense is worse than last year. Worse team than 09?
On the other hand, special teams are much better overall. Just looking for some positives.
The offense is better than last year. Granted, we're not converting 3rd downs any better, but we are scoring more points.
The main problem is the defense, and it's not from a lack of talent.
Shadowbyte 11-16-2010, 08:33 AM I can't believe people are asking for firings and people to lose their job.
You do realize these head coaches inherited a team with NO TALENT..
That's why we were all scratching our heads when we saw people like Santonio Holmes, T.O, Boldin, Houshmandzadeh, Marshawn Lynch, Tomlinson etc, out on the market with no real interest by the Redskins. It appeared as if the coaching staff believed they could win with what they had. Tragically, they fooled the fanbase into thinking we actually had an competitive offense also.
We need to invest money in our offense. We haven't really done that over the years, most of our investments have been in the defense. Signing McNabb is worthless without putting the right pieces around him.
aceinthehouse 11-16-2010, 08:36 AM There's only one person I blame, for last nights debacle and that's Jim Haslett.
When i actually have to flip my opinion, from my idea to keep Haslett,to Sir ClintonPortis in firing him and rather having Wade (sig)....you know we played bad defense.
There is just no excuse for what he did last night. Why would you run a Zone, when we played Bump & Run Man and won 17-12 last game?
I actually have no problem running the 3-4 over the 4-3...
I don't even have a problem running this scheme, when we don't have all 11 players on D who fit this 3-4 scheme...
But nothing irks me more than changing what works, into trying something else and being creative...
My actual life Motto...is "don't FIX IT,if it ain't broken"...Hell,I've used it as a SIG before...because I truly believe those words.
If we had got our ass kicked because we didn't know how to game plan against the eagles...that's one thing.
But to run a completely different scheme and strategy, when the one you used last time had your team up 14-0 is unacceptable.
You guys can blame Landry,McNabb,M. Shanahan..Kyle...I don't care who you blame.
Only 1 guy gets the blame from me..and that's Jim Haslett.
I'm not sure he shouldn't be fired RIGHT NOW after that performance...seriously!!
And I'm not a fire a coach, in the season kinda guy at all...
skinsfaninok 11-16-2010, 08:37 AM Well my car which has redskins all over it broke down and it could be the transmission, so yea I'm ****ed

Good points here Ace, but IMO I think we have to give Haslett the rest of the season just to be 100% sure its not a matter of development. Yeah it was hard to say that for me but I believe its the best approach.

Wonder if it's a coincidence that it happened last night...
redsk1 11-16-2010, 09:08 AM We are the second oldest team in the NFL...Are we destined to be a team of underachieving old farts under Snyder ownership? Every time they mention old teams on national TV the Redskins are leading the pack. I envy teams like Chiefs and Bucs. They reloaded and they can only get better with time. We got to get younger and faster.
Yep. People laughed on here when the "rebuild" question was asked. I do feel like we need to a major overhaul. We need it. We're not as bad as we looked last night but we're not far from it.
I thought the VC era was going to take a few years to fix. It may take 5 - 10 years to fix.
skinsfan69 11-16-2010, 09:19 AM If they were going to rebuild then I think you don't bring in Shanahan. Go out and get a young coach like Morris if you're going to rebuild. Also this Jamal Brown trade seems to be a complete joke, so there's more draft picks gone for someone that's older and can't stay on the field.

Signing McNabb is worthless without putting the right pieces around him.None of the players you mentioned would have made a huge impact here given the state of the O-line. Until that unit is addressed, we will have a below average offense.
