saden1 11-16-2010, 12:47 AM We are the second oldest team in the NFL...Are we destined to be a team of underachieving old farts under Snyder ownership? Every time they mention old teams on national TV the Redskins are leading the pack. I envy teams like Chiefs and Bucs. They reloaded and they can only get better with time. We got to get younger and faster.
saden1 11-16-2010, 12:49 AM I'm so pissed I can't even type coherent sentence.
I literally feel ill...my stomach is bubbling.
dblanch66 11-16-2010, 12:53 AM Hopefully bounce back, but changes need to be made. Galloway has got to go, we need a healthy RB besides Williams (Portis, Torain and Simpson are/have been hurt) promote Davis. They need to forget about the playoffs and concentrate on the future by playing young players and finding out what they have to offer. Williams and Darrell Young looked good tonight we need more of that.
agreed. our receivers need a complete overhaul..except Armstrong.

I really want to see what Austin can do.

We got to get younger and faster. We may still salvage this season yet, but I don't understand those who see some sort of secret rebuilding project in the McNabb and Jammal Brown. The "two-steps backwards is actually three steps forwards" rebuilding argument boggles the mind. The fact that we're not rebuilding doesn't mean that we're quietly rebuilding
We found some young contributors in Trent Williams, Keiland Williams, Brandon Banks, and perhaps Perry Riley, plus some less young contributors in Anthony Armstrong and Lorenzo Alexander. Hope for the future is not all lost. But we're still down some picks next year, and we have absolutely no building advantages over any other team in this league. All we have is hope that this track is the right track.
LavaRnChad 11-16-2010, 01:07 AM How do you have 2 WEEKS to prepare for a team and they come in and violate your manhood? Then... had the nerve to pick a fight before the game AND COULDN'T BACK IT UP IN THEIR OWN DAMN YARD. Bunch of sucka's man.

We got to get younger and faster. The fastest way to get younger and faster, not to mention less cap prohibitive is to stockpile and make wise draft picks. It's time to stop thinking that we are a free agent away from a deep playoff run. Teams like New England, Philly, and Green Bay are loaded with young players selected through the draft. Snyder always seems to be on a 2-3 year plan without sufficient picks to get younger, so we build more through FA than through the draft. We've had it backward for years, and will continue to be mediocre at best until we change our approach to building the team.
Chief X_Phackter 11-16-2010, 02:12 AM True. The only aspect of this game that I like was the running of Williams. We had no defense, offense, or ST play. Someone needs to lose thier job over this. I'm all about giving people time to grow where they are planted, but this type of performance is unacceptable.
Side note, we did put up 28 points. That's the highest since we played Oakland in December last year.
Probably wouldn't have happened if the Eagles didn't almost always have a four-touchdown lead after the 1st quarter...Their defense took it down a few notches after the big lead.

We can also trade away guys like Fletch and Moss for picks. However, not only is the number of picks is important, but which year the picks are in, as some draft classes are stronger than others.
itvnetop 11-16-2010, 02:40 AM You usually don't get really good draft picks from trading veterans, even if they're good performers. The only time I've seen knockout draft picks offered were for "franchise" qb's (Chicago was obviously on one).
The teams that stockpile picks usually do so during the draft. If there's a player that slips that another team really wants, you sacrifice short-term for future gain. If the scouting department has done its job, there should be three or four players you're willing to draft if the others are taken- meaning, trade back if you can. Trade current picks for more picks down the road.
Unfortunately, we're almost at a point where we'll need every pick we have during the upcoming drafts. I just hope BA is saavy enough to get it done- is the fanbase amenable to doing it the right way, even if it means having 3 or 4 win seasons for the next few years?
