New contract come with a new offensive line?
Redskins and McNabb Agree to Contract ExtensionSkinDogg 11-15-2010, 06:26 PM New contract come with a new offensive line? DynamiteRave 11-15-2010, 06:26 PM Never read so many over reaction posts in my life. Redskins fans are never happy. Pssh, you should see my facebook news feed page. A bunch of people bitching about the McNabb signing. It could be worse people... We could be the Cowboys. :) SFREDSKIN 11-15-2010, 06:29 PM I hope Donovan doesn't spend any money on jewelry like Dez Bryant Dez Bryant loses diamond earring during Cowboys victory - Shutdown Corner - NFL - Yahoo! As long as there is no salary cap, it's Dan Snyder's money, not mine. I'm just glad he'll be here for another couple years so thats one less thing we have to worry about. I'd like to take a QB in the 2012 draft; groom him for a year or so and then bring him in. The time/amount don't really bother me at all. This is spot on. So long as we don't end up in "cap hell" (which, according to all the pundits, we've been in for years), what difference does the cost make? My guess is you bring in a serious young prospect or two over the next few years, groom em behind DMac, and then keep DMac as a vet backup. Now, if DMac suddenly gets hot, he'll get his incentive money. If not, it's stability until the true savior arrives. We've still got a ton of team to build before we're going anywhere, IMO. This locks in one piece, and it shuts down all the gossip for a while. I'm fine with the move, even at 80 mill. Now, if we re-sign captain Rabach for big money...:Smoker: CultBrennan59 11-15-2010, 06:44 PM Good move, this should shut the media up about this whole 'Donovan won't be in DC next year" irish 11-15-2010, 06:47 PM That's almost as much guaranteed as Brady. And a 5 year deal? That's too much money, too many years. I'm happy we extended him, but not for that much. It will make for interesting television tonight for sure. One thing is certain- if we come out and lay an egg tonight, we'll get blasted (as usual). I totally agree, this is waaaay to many years and waaaaay too much $. DM is a nice QB but this deal is too big. skinsfaninok 11-15-2010, 07:05 PM Never read so many over reaction posts in my life. Redskins fans are never happy. No shit GMScud 11-15-2010, 07:06 PM Well, Mortensen just said that when the details of the contract come out, it will in all likelyhood be about $10-$12M in new money, and the Skins will have the ability to walk away from the deal after 1 or 2 seasons before the rest of this guaranteed money really kicks in. If that's the truth, then I can definitely live with that. HolyLandSkinsFan 11-15-2010, 07:06 PM Say what you guys want, but is the BEST move we could have made. We have invested 2 draft picks in this guy for a 2nd and (3rd or 4th rounder) Now Shanahan can draft his future and Redskins future prospect whoever that will be and groom him behind McNabb. Instead of losing him to Free Agency and finding a way to fill the QB position and waiting for him to learn the offense or Sexy Rexy being our starter,we can now look to address the O-line,WR and what other positions of need in upcoming seasons. GREAT JOB BRUCE!! HTTR Exactly. This is the right move for the team. The redskins have never had success drafting QBs because of a. lack of stability at coach and b. lack of an O-line. (shuler, ramsey, campell). Even in Gibbs 1 - we won because of the O-line. They made the many QBs look good. (theisman, schrader, williams, rypien) DMAC is smart enough to give us a chance with an incomplete O-line. He's also a positive personality and most importantly a leader. JC never had that leadership quality and DMAC is a unifying force for the team. The knock on him is choking in big games - like an NFC championship of SB. When we get there we can worry about that. With this extension we have a legit QB and a legit coaching staff. We can put in place the O-line through the draft and the playbook which really takes 2-3 years. Once we have an O-line we can draft a young QB who can start 3-4 years from now. GMScud 11-15-2010, 07:07 PM Never read so many over reaction posts in my life. Redskins fans are never happy. An overreaction is giving McNabb $40M in guarantees. :) |
