Where has the Redskins' Pass Rush Gone?

I don't really understand our defensive scheme to be honest. Haslett talked about getting more turnovers w/ his scheme. That has certainly been the case but I wonder if over time the turnovers will gravitate back toward average levels. And if/when that happens this defense has what to offer exactly?

Look our defense has given up alot of yards but we have held most ooponets around 20 points a game. Our offense has given up 2 TD's 2 weeks i a row to the Bears and Lions on turnovers. Our Defense has forced 19 take aways but due to how poor our offense is playing they have not taken advantage of the turnovers. If we had the Saints offense we would be scoring 28 to 30 points a game with all the take aways.

21 points is about the same amount the were coughing up last year. However, our defense(Hall) has scored the game winner in two games, thus covering up for that for those two games.

Honestly, have we ever had a great consistent pass rush? Rak is the only and closest thing to a dominate pass rusher which we have.

Is this question posed in terms of recent years? If so, I'd say the GW years were pretty good, prior to that I have to go back to the Petitbon era when we had some good DEs, Mann & Manley.

Last year AC & Rak put up some numbers & if nothing else showed that if the coverage is good they can get there. This year I cringe about every time we blitz cause it seems the pct. always favors the O.

AC is still a good pass rusher but as GT points out, he is sharing reps.

Well I feel that in past years, our Dline has gotten us sacks, yes, but when the opposing team has a last chance to win it drive, our pass rush just disappears. The Greg Williams years overall, our pass rush wasn't that good to be honest, from what I remember. We have always had a problem getting to Romo, and against the Colts this year we had problems, especially when a team like the eagles had a good amount of sacks on Manning. If I were a D-Coordinator, I'd be running us with a 4-2-5 defense.

Put Andre Carter--Albert Haynesworth--Gholston--Orakpo as our DL

Rocky and London as our LB's

Carlos--DHall--LaRon--KMoore--and Doughty(would be Horton but he's on IR) as our secondary, and have Laron be that in the box type safety/the other LB.

Landry is an excellent pass rusher. If he played a 3-4 OLB, he'd be an absolute terror to block. But if Landry plays in the box, not just up on the line but actually in a gap, then you need to play both Doughty and Moore. And that's just not the best use of this team's personnel.

We need a real free safety, badly. It's our biggest defensive need.

Word to this. What sucks is we need FS AND probably a few other new pieces to make this defense tops in the league. If we ran the 4-3 still, with last year's personnel held over OR the current personnel, all we'd need is a FS and probably be elite...

...can't help but be sour on this. If Shanny sticks w/ the 3-4 and we do develop into a great defense that way I'll adjust. If Shanny dumps Haslett and the new guy switches back or otherwise takes the group a different direction I'll be effing irate.

Well, we gave the Eagles Nate Allen for a 1 to 3 year rental. Hackcoughhack. I'm a moron for being so hyped up about the McNabb trade.

Why? B/c Landry is a good blitzer?
Reed and Moore and even Horton if he wasn't hurt are good blitzers in their owm right not as dynamic as Landry but still good.
If you worried about coverage when a S is pass blitzing drop Landry in coverage and rush with another S.

I'm happy with our safeties.
Our biggest defensive need?
LOLB,NT, 3-4 DE and 3rd CB are imo far bigger needs then S

I would call Landry an excellent blitzer. He's not a pass rusher.

I don't think this team has seen a dominant pass rush since the 91 team. Where is the human fork lift (Jumpy Geathers) when you need him???
