Is it 1991? Apparently, it's a sin to even have an inkling that this team has a probability of 50% of winning its games.
Its Fu**ing Eagles Week!!!!SirClintonPortis 11-12-2010, 01:26 PM Is it 1991? Apparently, it's a sin to even have an inkling that this team has a probability of 50% of winning its games. JLee9718 11-12-2010, 01:37 PM I hate Monday night games! The Redskins usually don't play well in these games. I just hope that the Shanahans haven't messed up McNabb's mind. They've already tried to mix him up with his footwork! All through the Haynesworth escapade I was on Shanahan's side. Now that he's shown himself to be a sub-Zornian, I really don't know what to expect from here on out. In fact, I thought that hiring Shanahan was like the second coming of Gibbs 1, but I've been wrong before. It didn't take long for Shanahan to wear me out!!! I should have known something strange was going on since I didn't hear a peep out of my nemesis, CP! BTW, I took Shanahan off as my avatar! He won't go back! 44ever 11-12-2010, 01:41 PM What I'm hoping for is that the Skins have been working on a lot of things that up until now, they have been unable to utilize. Hopefully they come out and show some new looks. I am also very interested hoe DM will respond. HTTR! skinsfaninok 11-12-2010, 01:48 PM Clinton Portis wears Phillies hat four days before facing Eagles - Shutdown Corner - NFL - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Clinton-Portis-wears-Phillies-hat-four-days-befo?urn=nfl-284674) skinsfaninok 11-12-2010, 01:50 PM Because Vick has shown that he scores in every game and almost every quarter of football he plays. It's just a mathematical certainty. It took the Eagles 1 quarter to effectively figure out and shut down our Offense and kept us to 3 points for the remainder 3 quarters of the game. While they managed to creep back up with a cold and unprepared Kolb. Vick would have played a better whole game than Kolb, in fact his passer rating was much higher than Kolbs. Actually Vick was very close to scoring when he got hurt. The Eagles did not get that close into our red zone the remainder of the game without Vick. Obviously when I say it is a fact, that is a statistical and historical statement. But one that is and will be proved this coming week. As a 40 year fan, I have had the luxury of sitting back and knowing the Skins would win. After the 80's and early 90's, Im the guy who went through the rest of my life defending and making excuses for the Skins. I don't do that anymore, but for those who do, I understand, I was there. Anything can happen in the NFL. We do have a chance to beat the Eagles. But if Vick stays in, we won't. IMO. We were up 14-0 when he went down you know LavaRnChad 11-12-2010, 02:11 PM I would also say we weren't done too big of a favor when we knocked Steve Jackson out of the St Louis game since then they moved to a passing attack that we were not prepared for or able to deal with. Don't forget about their backup RB, he ran through our defense a bit. LavaRnChad 11-12-2010, 02:27 PM 44ever, How is it a fact that they would have beaten us with Vick? Did you see the three or four replays that showed V-Jax and Macklin getting wide open? The commentators were saying how Kolb wasn't even looking downfield to see them because he was too busy with his checkdown reads. Vick would have exploited that. That's what he does. MTK 11-12-2010, 02:32 PM The only 'fact' is the Skins won. CRedskinsRule 11-12-2010, 02:35 PM Really, and in the case of a divisional win/lose tie, split evenly, what determines the 1st place team? I imagine you know this, but here is the list from nfl.com (http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures): TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined. Two Clubs 1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. 4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 5. Strength of victory. 6. Strength of schedule. 7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 9. Best net points in common games. 10. Best net points in all games. 11. Best net touchdowns in all games. 12. Coin toss So, if 2 teams in division are tied, you look first at head to head. We have won both division games so far = quality regardless of 1 point or 20 point wins next if they split, as you propose, then you look at division wins. So far we are 2-0 = quality win next if they are tied at division level you look at common games. Here so far, we are 3-3(Rams is one of our two non common opponents the other one being Tampa) , so that the ram's loss while bad in conference doesn't hurt here, because we are the only team in our division that plays the rams. next if they are tied from common you look at conference games. So far we are 4-2, so the colt's loss for example was better than a loss to chicago. For comparison: the NYG are 1-0 in division, 4-2 in common opponents (their only two losses are here), and 5-0 in conference. Philly is 0-1 in division, 3-3 in common opponents, and 3-2 in conference. note: NONE of those tie breakers rely on the point spread in a win. edit: I wasn't sure what strength of victory (#5) was, so here is Wikipedia's answer:the combined won-lost-tied percentage of all the teams that a club has defeated still not points related. CRedskinsRule 11-12-2010, 02:39 PM Did you see the three or four replays that showed V-Jax and Macklin getting wide open? The commentators were saying how Kolb wasn't even looking downfield to see them because he was too busy with his checkdown reads. Vick would have exploited that. That's what he does. maybe he would have, maybe not. The bottomline is when the clock showed 0:00, we had more points. Anything other than that is speculation (maybe valid) and not fact. I am sure in the evil twin universe, Barron didn't hold, the catch was caught, and Jarmon was called for a personal foul. But here in the real universe, those things didn't happen and we sit with those three wins. |
