James Davis on the Active Roster?

Fine, I'll be happy to watch Davis in the remaining games - - where he will get lots of chances to show his stuff because he is a lot more healthy than guys who were on the roster ahead of him.

As to the argument that you have to keep someone because other teams are - - or might be - - interested in them, you would hope that would be true of most of the people that you bring to training camp.

And since six carries and one game is insufficient to conclude that a running back might just be a "JAG", can someone explain the obverse:

How do 6 carries with one "almost big run" - - plus a terrible drop of a pass that hit him in the numbers which seems to have gone unmentioned here - - consititute a reason to think this guy is an important cog in the future of the team?

What is the Over/Under for his rushing yards against the Giants this week?

Nobody is saying he's an important cog for the future, just saying we haven't seen enough to tell either way.

I was not impressed by Davis at all. I am betting he is, as sportscurmudgeon asserts, he is JAG. At the same time, who knows, I'll give him another game before condemning him to JAG status. Based on his performance, however, I can't see he deserves much more than one more shot at shaking the label.

Yeah, 6 carries really isn't enough to judge him either way. He was a shoe string tackle away from breaking a nice one.

And Devin Thomas had a great run after catch in the Broncos game a couple years ago. ;)

DT had more than 6 touches to prove his worthlessness.

I know, I know. Just messing with you. Where is InsaneBoost when you need him??

Honestly, doubt JD will get much more slack. Perfectly understandable to have jitters or not be at the top of your game in your first pro appearance, but, if you don't want it to be a quick career, you need to step up fast. I think he has one more shot and, if he doesn't pull a Klieland, he is off the team the moment Torrain is back.

Even with Torain back in the fold JD will probably still have a spot as the #3 back for now. I agree JD isn't going to have a huge window to show his worth. If he wants to be a part of the future here, he needs to show it really soon.
