James Davis on the Active Roster?

He turned down an offer from Carolina to be on their 53 man roster, and stay on our practice squad. That shows that he believes he can be great in this offense; or that he just doesn't want to be on the second/third worst team in the NFL

"I've always wanted to play for Coach Shanahan in this system. So no matter [if other teams pursue him], we would give the Redskins the first chance because I want to be here. I think this is good for me."

James was Thunder and Spiller was Lightning at Clemson. Spiller was better at Clemson but Davis was a beast too. They aren't that similar but Davis for sure was overlooked at Clemson.

Not big news, but Kevin Sheehan on 950am, Richmond, reporting Mr. Davis has really impressed Mike Shanahan so far. Don't know if he's active yet for Sunday, but he guesses CP won't be.

I would guess CP will be held out this week and we'll see Davis. Torain sounds iffy too, not good.

I'm actually really excited to give Davis a go. I like this guy...

Maybe we'll see him on KR too?

Given shanny's moves this year, it would be no surprise to see Davis get a lot of action. Banks & Torain have both gone from inactive/PS to playing significant roles.

Wasn't part of the reason davis slipped in the draft due to his running a 4.7 in the 40?

just did a quick search, 4.6 was his slowest at combine but he improved to 4.45 at pro day accoring to these:

He had a good career at Clemson. This guy can be a good pro. He has some explosion.
