I don't see how Obama's visit is about business relations, but foreign relations.

Believe me I know where to laugh, seeing that I work for an IT consulting company. I also find it more hilarious that you think foreign relations and call centers are the same thing, or that is even the first thought that comes to your mind.

I relate India to call centers not foreign relations to call centers.

Why should the White House announced how much it costs to protect the president? For what it's worth, a very similiar trip taken by Bill Clinton costs about $5.2 mil per day. This trip will probably cost the same seeing that Obama is travelling to less countries and this trip is a day shorter than Clinton's.

But what's so wrong about the timing?

The White House can do whatever they want without explaining or reasoning with the public (that much is obvious at this point with this administration). As far as the timing goes, Obama leaves for this trip just one day after his party took a "shellacking" in a mid-term election that was widely viewed as a referendum on his policies (although he'd have you believe it was a communication breakdown), many of which involved spending an outlandish amount of money despite a massive economic downturn.

Not saying that some of his spending thus far wasn't necessary, but when 10% of the country is out of work and you're taking your wife and daughters on an uber-high profile trip to places like the Taj-Mahal (during election week no less)... Well... kind of a poor decision IMO. For as good a game as he talks, dude is so out of touch.

During his campaign he talked about the need for America to "tighten their belts." Then he gets put into office and spends like a lunatic, all the while taking multiple lavish vacations while his wife becomes a fashion icon wearing $300 shoes planting her garden. Way to lead by example. His talk is outstanding. His leadership is shit.

The Obama's are self made millionaires, if she's wearing $300 shoes it's because she bought them with her hard earned money. And how come you never point out the good deeds Mrs. Obama and Jill Biden are doing for our service men and women?

I remember when he went to Chicago during one of the holidays and you threw a hissy about that. He went to accept the Nobel Prize for Peace, everyone was all up in arms about the nation is going through a tough time and he should send someone else to get it. Taxpayer's dime, blah, blah.

If Obama got pushed out of a moving car, you guys would want him impeached for J walking.

Did I ever say Michelle Obama was a bad person or did nothing charitable or beneficial? How come I never "point out" her good deeds? Why would I? Every first lady develops some sort of agenda to work with military families, or sick kids, or schools, etc etc etc. And that's great. But why on earth would I go out of my way to point that out? Sorry, I just thought it was a funny question on your part.

Look, Obama has been perceived by many as out of touch, and it's for reasons that I pointed out. Good for them for having millions. They should be able to enjoy that money. But don't do it so overtly while telling Americans to "tighten their belts." Given the financial hard times so many Americans are experiencing, maybe they should be a little more, um, I guess conservative (I know, lol). By that I mean not spending a girls week in Europe shopping, or wearing $300 shoes in the garden, or renting compounds for lavish week-long jaunts in Hawaii and Martha's Vineyard, or taking the whole family to visit the Taj-Mahal. Perception is reality.

And please don't respond with an answer pointing out how many vacations W took.

Me responding with how many vacations W took is just as tired as you pouncing on everything Obama does that you perceive to be out of touch.

I like your point. Just like George Bush gave Bailouts, passed Stimulus bill, and his in last month of presidency, 650,000 jobs were lost and umemployment hit a twenty year high 7.6%. Just want make sure we understand 8 years of Republican Economic Policy pushed our economy into its worst era since the great depression.

Its really funny to read this thread and see this crap being spewed about jobs, econonmy, big business hoarding cash like every american household, presidential vacations, etc. And how people think that this is a new problem.

Its really sad. Ive heard no tangible plan from either side on how we get this under control.

Its also funny that people want to cut government and blame it, but also look to it to solve its problem....thats hilarious

Do I really "pounce on everything?" Come on.

If I actually pounced on everything I could you'd be far more sick of me than you are.

But for fun, I'll say it's good to see that the teleprompter-in-chief will make it's debut in India's parliament. Lol.
