but you know football, right? I mean, this team is going 14-2 this year.... Oh wait...

You know what's crazy? He already had us losing to the Titans in his 14-2 prediction this summer.

Hey Ace you're alright with me man. I wanted Moss too. I like the fact that you stick to your guns, your posts run a little lengthy sometimes but shit I read most of this while I'm at work so it helps pass the time. It's funny how we cry all day about how we don't have weapons but we don't want to take a chance on a guy when he's out there. Why ? Because we always think the worst, I mean we're Redskins fans if we don't think that every decision is a mistake then we don't know football right ? We'd just be drinking the kool-aid, believing the hype, or sucking the tit of The Danny. I wanted Moss and he didn't get here...oh well.

On to next week I guess.

I would have liked to have gotten him. The one thing McNabb does with ANY accuracy is throw the deep ball...........and remind me again, what does Randy like to run? What route is his bread and butter? What route would stretch the field, and thin out the coverage for Santana and Cooley? Who could give our running game a hand, especially when our Line couldnt block a frikkin blow up doll?

This was a low risk, high reward scenario if there ever was one, and in the worst case, he gets here and was the head case we all know he can be, then we bench his ass, and get a 4th or 5th round pick, FOR FREE basically, for the trouble.

Wrong move Shanny, but I should expect nothing less from a guy that lies out of his arse about McNabb not being in shape to run a 2 minute offense, just to put Rex FVCKIN Grossman in the game.

Really sick and tired of all the blind faith in this man. I think we all expected our defense to suffer a bit when he took the reigns, but WORST IN THE LEAGUE?? Gimme a break. If not for the turnovers, we are 2-6. We are a VERY lucky 4-4, and in my opinion, will only win 3 more games this season if Shanahan doesn't shore up that o-line and run defense.

I think its about to get ridiculous for the second half of the season.

I don't think fans expressing their dissatisfaction with the Skins Front Office about passing on a hall of fame WR that was put in their lap is going off the deep end.
Especially when you mortgage the future for an aging QB to make the playoffs now and WR is a glaring position of need.

If any team needed Randy Moss right now...it was the Skins.
Fans have a right to be pissed. Especially since we were so hopeful that Shanny was an amazing coach and Allen was an incredible GM.

The blinders all suddenly off now...blind faith is now gone due to Shanny's ridiculous behavior this week and we are all shocked to realize what many said about him is true...the same goes for McNabb...although I think none of us had the beer goggles on thinking Haslett was amazing.

Even though I predicted 7-9, I was hopeful for future years due to the new FO structure.
The way it is looking, this may take longer than I thought since Shanny obviously wants a different QB and is also unwilling to be able to manage star players with egos anywhere close to his own. (yet they signed Larry Johnson)

This whole thing seems to be about Shanny's ego...McNabb, Haynesworth, Portis.

So many of you that say you are glad to not have Randy Moss may be right...for one reason...I don't think Shanny had the ability to coach Randy Moss without pissing him off too.

That is sad...I thought Shanny is some sort of coaching Guru?
Last I knew...coaching was more than X's and O's....it involves MOTIVATING players, individual players with individual personalities...

Ask yourself this question...why is it the star players that Shanny tends to piss off?
Interesting huh?
Does Shanny need ALL the attention?
Sheesh!

And regarding another post...I would think Gibbs would give Randy Moss a shot in this situation...he is extremely competitive and would want a playoff run and he would be one of the few coaches that would be able to make Moss happy and want to play his guts out for him.

It is just a shame that Shanny does not have that ability or desire.

McNabb has not been all that accurate on his deep throws this year, Armstrong and Moss have both done excellent jobs adjusting to passes

If not for turnovers we'd be 2-6 is like saying if Blackwood doesn't slip and fail to tackle Riggins we lose SB XVII. Blackwood didn't tackle Riggins and we did get turnovers. Why? Because Riggo stiff-armed Blackwood and we made plays to get the ball. These things weren't accidents that were gift-wrapped to us. Give our guys some credit. And stop calling it luck

Randy Moss wouldn't have really done much for our OL woes, and nothing for our run defense

Randy Moss is most likely a sure-fire 1st ballot HOF, but this isn't 2002. Where he'll be 5 years after he retires has nothing to do with what he can contribute now

And on and on...

Why do you think the team showed little or no interest in obtaining his services?

I don't know what on and on means...but my point is this.
I think many here believe that not putting a claim in for Moss was a mistake.
It looks to me that about 75% of folks wanted him.
It is easy to say ...well those grapes were probably sour after the fact....but don't be suprised if a few are pissed when we miss on a talent that could help us fight for a playoff chance.

Note:
I agree about Moss/Armstrong/McNabb/oline/Moss being older/run defense.
However, we have had some luck this year with other teams self destructing that contributed to wins, but we lost the Texans game due to the ball hitting the uprights...everything evens out in the end and you end up with the record you deserve...we are a 500 team right now because we are playing like that, if not for turnovers, we'd obviously be worse off. You just can't count on a positive turnover ratio to get you into the playoffs...I'd rather earn the yards than hope we can continue to miraculously steal them.

But I do think passing on Moss was a mistake. I think many agree

Honestly. I don't know. I get the feeling that they really do like Galloway because they feel that he's a veteran that won't get in the way of the progress of Armstrong whereas maybe Moss might? I don't know, just guessing. Personally I would have dropped Galloway a long time ago, regardless of picking up Moss. I think adding Moss could have helped in the interim, but we're not a worse team by not signing him. Guess the attention turns back to V Jax in the spring.

I don't know how getting an old receiver is really going to help our team, especially when he quits on plays. You can say the Viks were a more talented team than us, and Moss gave them no help at all. I could see a player like Moss not mesh well in a town like DC. The media is super critical and will not gel with him at all and the team in struggling. I doubt Moss would get a ton of chances to make big plays bc the OL wont give McNabb more than 3 seconds to throw the ball. Moss will get more frustrated and just tank.

We would would have to eat the rest of his contract, for a gamble where the odds are strongly against us. I just don't understand this at all. Why do three quarters of the fans here think he is going to help our passing game if Moss is primarily a deep route kind of guy? He isn't fit for the screen game(only kind of play that the OL could possibly block for) and he is not going to help blocking while he gets open.

Your way of thinking coincides with mine. After lasting all of four games with the Vikes, Brad Childress classified Moss as "A programmatic - non-fit".

With all the distractions we already have going on, the team needing to refocus for the second half of the season, another volatile personality added to the mix at this time just might not be the best way to proceed.
