Not much is going to change on the line, just be thankful that teams with a front 4 like we saw today is not the norm.
Kyle Shanahan and McNabb should lock themselves in a room and work on getting on the same page.
Detroit's Front 4, and Suh specifically, are going to be scary good. I am not surprised that our Line couldn't handle them, but that isn't the type of DLine we will be seeing (with the exception of NYG). I still look for good things this season.
I expect that this week will be an intense period at the Shanahan households.
Bummed by the loss, but still very optimistic, going forward.

And who fills in for Brown then?
Not sure it's a great idea to cut our main backup at both tackle spots.
Selvish Capers off the practice squad. Heyer is terrible.

Capers?
Wow
Capers was more of a joke man. I am just sick of watching Heyer getting steam rolled play after play.

No offense to casey rabach, but he should have been the one that was benched, not mcnabb. He has been owned in everymatch up he has been in this year. The only lineman that has looked good is Trent Williams and that is it everyoneelse should have been riding pine because their performances have been dreadful.

We can improve the O-line by cutting Stephon Heyer
I don't think we are in a position to do that right now. He isn't as bad as Rabach. Rabach needs to be demoted immediately.
I want to see Lichtenjagr at center and Dock back at LG. If for nothing else it would prove that our coaches aren't dillusional.
Rabach is horrific.

Here's some offensive changes needed:
1. Move the pocket.
Give McNabb more of a chance and get him outside with some sprints and rollouts. Our Oline is a huge weakness and K Shanny needs to start adapting a bit more. This will offer the added benefit of tapping McNabb's still decent running ability. This threat has been minimized by keeping McNabb constantly in the traditional pocket.
2. Shorter Passing Game.
Our long developing pass plays don't mesh well with our crappy Oline pass protection play. K Shanny needs to give McNabb some quicker options. Slants, screens, hitting the RB out of the backfield. With games against very good Dlines coming up--Eagles,Titans,Giants X2--McNabb will need to get the ball out quick.
3. More Banks.
Clearly our most electric offensive weapon deserves a few touches on offense. K Shanny needs to draw up a few plays that gets Banks into some space where he can do his damage. How about a bubble screen or two? End around? Reverse? And I don't suggest we just have Banks run flys and posts. As I mentioned in my #2--shorter passing is still the key since our Oline stinks in pass protection.
4. Two TE's.
All I heard in the offseason was how K Shanny was going to have so many options with our two good TE's. Cooley has been good but I would like to see Fred Davis on the field more--with Cooley. Scrap the three WR/one TE package since Galloway is useless and go with more two WR/two TE sets. Galloway is doing zilch for us and most of his routes are long developing anyway. Davis is primarily a pass receiving TE and could offer McNabb another big target in the short/medium passing game. The TE is the best friend of a QB--especially one with a bad Oline. Why not give McNabb two to throw to?
5. Get Portis healthy.
Portis might be our second best pass protector after Trent Williams. We need him back as our third down back at the very least for his blocking abilities. That alone will help McNabb tremendously.

From what I read in the Wash Post a week or so ago, the coaches have been working with DM on his footwork for quite awhile now. They are trying to widen his stance as he throws to provide a more solid base to increase his accuracy.
Capers was more of a joke man. I am just sick of watching Heyer getting steam rolled play after play.
Name a guy that didn't get steamrolled yesterday.
Joke or not, cutting Heyer isn't going to solve anything right now and will only add to our needs.
