It's F-Ing Lions Week!!Monkeydad 10-28-2010, 08:29 PM LfluidEmOsc GusFrerotte 10-28-2010, 08:31 PM Apparently we are not a great draw in Motown, as we are the Lions' first non-sellout this year. Redskins-Lions game won't be on TV in Detroit area - NFL - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-lions-blackout) Not too many folks here in Detroit think the game is worth shelling out that kind of money for a potential ass kicking of the Lions. I always see the Skins in Detroit, but I opted out this season. mooby 10-29-2010, 12:46 AM Not too many folks here in Detroit think the game is worth shelling out that kind of money for a potential ass kicking of the Lions. I always see the Skins in Detroit, but I opted out this season. Man, if I ever move out of state, I'd always want to see the Skins whenever they came through whatever city I'm in, or the closest city to that. I mean right now I normally only go to 1-2 games a year even though I live close, but that's because I don't have a lot of money to spend and other expenses always come first. I can see your hesitation in wanting to go to the Detroit game though. They beat us last year when they were slouches and this year even though they are 1-5 they have been close in every loss. I can see the Skins losing this one, especially if Matt Stafford has a good day against our defense. I can just as easily see this being the game where our offense gets on track though, and if defense can perform fine we could win this one easily. GusFrerotte 10-29-2010, 01:10 AM It is more of an expense thing than anything. Usually a group of us goes, but money is tight, as I am going to need new struts, etc on my car, plus Xmas is just around the corner. Not too mention I went last year and got ragged on coming out of Ford Field when we lost. It was like Clint Eastwood in The Gauntlet walking through Greektown going back to the car. skinsfan69 10-29-2010, 10:41 AM You'll get used to this kind of fan around here. I don't get it either. well it's not like i'm going to be rooting for detroit mooby 10-29-2010, 11:20 AM well it's not like i'm going to be rooting for detroit Might as well be, DETROITfan69. If you looooooove Detroit so much, why don't you go live in that urban paradise?! /sarcasm. skinsfan69 10-29-2010, 01:32 PM Might as well be, DETROITfan69. If you looooooove Detroit so much, why don't you go live in that urban paradise?! /sarcasm. Um... no thanks. I'm just not a homer Sonny Jurgenson type and pick Washington every single week, even though I'm a die hard fan for the last 35 years. This is going to be a tough one against a team that should've won 2 more games and is coming off a bye. Detroit has also show the ability to SCORE. I think we get a break with a rusty young QB that hasn't played this year. We'll see... SmootSmack 10-29-2010, 01:34 PM Man, I am just doing the rounds on 'expert picks' and so on around the major sports news sites and it looks like we are apparently in for a beating by the Detroit Lions, I've seen like 2 guys picks the Redskins to win so far. NFL Picks and Predictions for Week 8 - National Football League - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nfl/picks) Redskins-Lions: Media Predictions - Redskins Journal (http://blogs.fredericksburg.com/redskinsjournal/2010/10/29/redskins-lions-media-predictions/) GTripp0012 10-29-2010, 01:34 PM This is not about whether we won or lost. Not one of my sentences had "winning the game" as the subject of the sentence. The subject was about the Packers' stats going into that week. They came into the game with statistical rankings that weren't so hot, but they came and stuffed our running game. This shows that stats can mask certain strengths of the opposing team. Incidentally, Miami was able to get a few decent runs against them the next week, which further highlights our interior's crappiness. This also isn't about track records. This is about freaking who is going to win the damn battles on the LOS. If Suh wins more of those battles than he loses, McNabb and friends are going to be in a world of hurt. Detroit didn't have Suh before. They do now. Don't act like he's not there. Those "track records" are no longer going to be reliable once they add good personnel. Who won the LOS battle between their D-line and our O-line? Green Bay's DL won against us easily. That in turn led to a shitty rushing average.Detroit beat us up in both trenches last season. We better come prepared. aceinthehouse 10-29-2010, 01:59 PM Does anyone know who is calling our game this week? The "Commentators" thread is closed,so I had to post this question here. I sure hope it's Aikman and Buck... Not because I like them, but because I can be more confident that we will go 5-3..:) |
