If it's week eight then why are we only using stats from the first 6 weeks. Oh, that's right because it will dilute the stats.

How is this for a stat? Through those first 6 weeks our D face a top 10 offense 4 times. The other 2 matchups were against number 11 and number 22. We haven't exactly been playing teams that cannot move the ball.

Or because the thread was started prior to week seven

Excuse the hell out of me for not catching that. Even at week 7 my argument was valid.

The yards allowed stat is less important than the turnovers caused, turnover ratio and the scoring defense stats. If a D can give their offense a few extra shots with the ball, that greatly increases that teams chances of winning. Unless of course, your offense sucks. I think ours will slowly progress as the season goes on.

I think a more complete picture would be given if how many opposing teams' drives ended in punts, FGs, turnovers and TDs were analyzed together.

That would be a nice thing to do, but that is a lot of analyzing.
