That's still beside the point. The point is the intrusion on privacy and spying on it's on citizens.

I'm sure this primarily applies to people who make disparaging comments about the W.H. and/or the President. Does it bother me that the W.H. might be recording these comments? No. No doubt this is probably another security/safety measure. There's a fine line between user privacy and government security, and I don't think this crosses it.
