I think Brock's just too darn big for anyone in the division right now. Dos Santos may be his only legitimate challenge, imo.

Shane Carwin is still a legitimate threat, and after he gets past Roy Nelson in January (he should), he will be in line to take on the number 1 contender, so he could challenge for the title again by next spring/summer.

If Carwin can get past his stamina problem, he beats Brock every time...

No doubt the HW division has some very good talent in it right now. Velasquez and Cain are legit as well as Dos Santos. Certainly the best the UFC has had in a very long time. The problem is that Lesnar is such a freak. A guy with his wrestling skills and his decent stand up game is going to be a contender no matter what. Add in his demonstrated toughness and his shear size and he is clearly a favorite against anybody in the world. In MMA everyone always has a chance so it is always hard to predict but if you play the odds Cain wins this fight more often than he loses it.

I'm not a big guy, 5'10, 195, but i know how i'd fight Lesnar if I was a HW. Brock doesnt like standup, he turns into a turtle whenever anyone starts landing on him. He's tough for sure, but his expert area is wrestling, and taking a fighter to the ground.

I'd work behind a stiff jab to keep him honest, mixing in power shots when he comes forward. if he tries to bullrush to take me down, i'd try to sidestep him, or retreat, and setup again. being a kempo guy, i'd throw a high kick or 2 to confuse him.

Now keep in mind if he takes me to the ground, it is probably over, unless i can get him in an arm triangle choke from the full guard, because he is susceptible to submissions.

If somehow I knocked brock down, like Carwin, i would swing for the fences until he either gets knocked out, or there is a stoppage. I have great cardio being a boxer, and i believe i could throw heavy shots on him for quite a while...

This is just the model of how someone could win, by not fighting Brock's kind of fight.

It's a good theory, but even with that game plan wrestlers still have the advantage of getting in close while you're swinging. Wrestlers are actually taking over UFC right now. Silva was getting dominated by Sonnen until a 5th round comeback. Brock's able to use his world class wrestling to get past power punchers (Carwin) and jiu-jitsu guys (Mir). GSP's dominance is in large part due to his training with the Canadian wrestling team- he gets on top of the opponent and then just gnp's all day. And wrestling is probably the reason why Maynard has a decent shot at taking away the lightweight belt from the fast fists of Frankie Edgar. I just think that wrestlers have figured out a way to beat fighters of all different styles.

I didn't get to see the fight but it sounds like Cain brought the heat. Congrats to him. Gotta love MMA where everyone loses at some point. Brock will get back. Like I said earlier I think in a very short amount of time the UFC's heavyweight division has become quite good. Just 3 years ago it was complete crap. Now it has multiple top-quality guys and is really interesting. So who does Cain get first? I'd bet Brock gets a second tier guy next and assuming he wins that then the loser of whoever loses the Cain-xxx fight or maybe the winner of a Carwin-xxx fight. Schaub will maybe get a shot at someone decent soon? Putting Gonzaga down moves him into the discussion for a top opponent.

I guess Dos Santos is next in line for Cain.

Cain will fight Dos Santos. Shane Carwin faces Roy Nelson in January, and the winner of that fight will fight the #1 contender. Lesnar's next fight is rumored to be the rubber match with Frank Mir, unless Brock leaves UFC to go back to the WWE, which is the rumor as of this morning.

UPDATE: The Undertaker was on hand for the PPV last night, and made allusion to Wrestlemania by "confronting" Brock on camera. As of my update, The WWE has offered Lesnar a very lucrative deal to come back to wrestling and face the Undertaker at wrestlemania 30.

Wow, just caught the fight. Brock got knocked around silly... He looked like a rag doll stumbling around the ring. I have to give it up to Velasquez- he just handled Brock.

Dos Santos is definitely his biggest threat.
