This is what he had to say recently and yes, I would give him a chance at only 26. A change of scenery could do wonders, just look at LT who everyone thought was washed out.

# Merriman: "I'm ready for the next chapter in my career and I am excited about the opportunity to continue my journey with a new team.”

# Shawne Merriman: "I'm approaching this as an opportunity to grow as a player and to bring my leadership, talents to a new organization."

At this point, do people still wish we selected Merriman over Rogers because it looks like Merriman has become a broken shell of what he was just a couple of years ago

More like Broken body lol.. Makes u wonder how good he would have been if he didn't use roids?

He won't look good here because we don't have a nose tackle here.

He won't look good here because we don't have a nose tackle here. How would you explain our linebackers both looking good and actually being statistically productive even though, as you correctly point out, we've now struggled at the nose tackle position in four of five games?

Even if we were to switch back to 4-3, which will not, it is time to get rid of Carter. In the 4-3 Carter was a liability in the running game against power running teams that had a strong OT. Only good at rushing the passer. That is all.Well, strong against the run in a one-gap scheme, but the wider that gap is, the more likely Carter always was to miss his responsibility on counter/cutback/reverse action. It really was something teams have schemed against him for a long time.

Carter has always been a tough guy to block. Too quick for tackles, too strong for tight ends.

Valuable player as long as he still has his pass rushing skills, but he's at the age where pass rushers decline. He's a below average player if you sap away his speed rushing ability.

You guys saying HGH is the reason his career is going in the tank have no idea what you're talking about. Do you have any proof of this?No kidding. I couldn't agree more.

Whatever team Merriman goes to next, will sign him for cheap. He has a LOT to prove, especially given his steroids past. Given all of this and his ties to the area, I wouldn't mind seeing him here under those conditions. As people say, a change of scenery can help a player out and I wouldn't mind having a player with 3-4 experience.

His story could be like Landry's where lots of people, (including myself) were down on him and look at him now. Merriman in my opinion at a low cost salary is worth the gamble. By the way I use to manufacture/purify HGH at a Biotech company here in the Bay area back in the 80's and I'm sure that our product is the one finding it's way around in the black market. An ex-employee got busted a few years ago by the FBI for stealing and selling it at a gym.
