Forget this imaginary Super Bowl Kool-Aid you speak of. Do you not appreciate at all that we have won back-to-back key games? That we are 2-0 in the division? That these are games that in the past the players, like the fans, would have given up on after the 1st quarter? Do you not see the positives of the season so far? Do you not realize that before you even play in the Super Bowl you have to make the playoffs and to make the playoffs you have to win games? Does none of that even remotely resonate with you?

Smoot,
You sound a bit like JoeRedskin. Take that however you want :D

A win is a win, and being 3-2 is a lot better than 2-3 (and we could easily have been 4-1). All of this is pretty positive, and this team does seem to have the will to win, which is unquestionably a change from recent years.

What's troubling me most is our O-line and our D (which are obviously related in that the failure to sustain drives puts our D on the field a lot). But we have shown flashes and shown improvement during games and over the course of the season.

Our team D is last -- dead last -- in the league in yards per game. But we're 9th in the league in points given up. At some point, those yards per game are going to translate into some real points (which hasn't been the case in a couple of games we've played -- yesterday's being a good example), and we don't have the offensive power to score tons of points. So unless we can get better at the O-line somehow (blocking schemes, getting the ball out faster, getting our running game going), if our D will continue to give up these kinds of yards, we're going to start coming up short more often than not.

I do trust, however, that we have good coaches who can figure this out within the limits of the talent we have on the team. And winning a game like this one should give us confidence that we really can play with anyone.

The Saints last year were 25th in total D, but 13th in points allowed. That seems to be the model we are following. We are living by the turnovers, and so far being successful creating and taking advantage of them (mostly). We also have played some very good teams (Rams excluded) and held them in check points wise, this is a better test than last year's 0fers that we ended up looking incompetent against

The Best: Winning a hard-fought game in overtime!

The Worst: Negative people who can't enjoy a win and bring me down by nit-picking the ever-lovin' shit out of everything about it.

I am an unabashed Redskins fan and homer from the "Just win, Baby!" school of football. If our untalented but scrappy team manages to luck into enough wins, we'll go to the playoffs, as unworthy as we may be on paper. And I'll love it! Meanwhile, there will be some much more talented teams with cleaner uniforms sitting at home during the playoffs.

Football is played on the field. At the end of the game, the scoreboard tells you who is the better team. The game isn't decided by who has the better looking roster.

I know we're building and that many other teams have more talent than we do. But I'll tell you this: whoever beats us had better bring it on the day they play us because they're in for a fight. Right now, what more can we fans ask of our team?

It seems like you are creating a straw dog argument. No one is seriously talking about the Super Bowl - except for you. I'm not sure I get the point of knocking down a non-argument.

So far this year we have been competitive. I personally am going to enjoy that fact for what it is.

People are accusing me of not being happy with a win when I'm just keeping stuff in one of the two perspectives that matter. But hey, I could go back to the naive times when I thought we were going to make it after the 2008 season and hopelessly optimistic for every game, because that seems like the only way to not get ostracized.

With respect, I offer that there is a third perspective available in the middle between extremes.

Nope, only two. How close they are to a Super Bowl now and how close they are to a Super Bowl in the near future.

The Daily Double, the category is "Double Trouble"

I'll wager 2000 Alex

The answer is:... How close they are to a Super Bowl now and how close they are to a Super Bowl in the near future.

What is: "What questions keep a football fan miserable in life?"

I believe we're going to pull off a Denver and be almost guaranteed to make it there in three years. WE WILL WIN ONE BEFORE THOSE CAPS WIN A CUP.
