Well, wish he had had the epiphany before he was cut:
Rich Campbell

Devin Thomas: "I’m going to take that advice from Coach Shanahan about being more of a pro and I’m going to take it to Carolina with me."

Thomas on his offseason side projects: "I’m going to eliminate all those other distractions that others might think are a bad thing for me."

More Thomas: "I’m just going to focus on football and be a football player until my career is over with."

Yeah. With our luck, he'll have a Cris Carter Moment and end up being an all-pro.

that is a load of horse s, this isn't pop warner, the reason these guys make it to the nfl is because they are talented. if every team took the hardest workers then it would be called the ufl.

we will see what happenes and it's not that i'm ticked we released him it is the fact that there is no explanation, and from all accounts it seems to be personal, that doesn't sit right with me

and if anyone thinks devin thomas is the only player to fall asleep in a meeting you are kidding yourself

Yeah! Shanahan saying he was cut because he wasn't professional enough in his approach to the game isn't an explanation. Clearly he hates NFL players who have been in Fantasia music videos, first he cut Larry Johnson and now Devin Thomas. The evidence is right in front of our eyes!

well lj had his shot and sucked asshole and was terrible all preseason but he was a "hard worker" and "looked good at practice". devin never had a shot at all with d mac at qb and who knows what could have happened he could have s the bed or he could have had a 100 yrd 5 catch game, my beef is we will never know cause shanny didn't like him.

you can say all you want about hard work being a pro blah blah blah, if you can ball you call ball, and shanny basically said in his presser devin has the talent to be a good wr in the nfl but doesn't have the work ethic. guess what thats half the wr's in the nfl they r divas for the most part. sure you have your andre johnsons and your larry fitzgeralds, but you also have you t.o.'s your ocho cinco's, your plaxico's.

only time will tell, i just can't beleive how many people were in love w devin and now all of a sudden he is garabge that can't make an nfl team. there is a reason he was signed 5 minutes after he cleared waivers.

I don't think anybody is saying DT isn't talented enough to play at wideout. You're just going to have to accept the fact that Mike Shanahan demands more from his players besides just having the talent to play football. If DT goes on to have a great career with Carolina then so be it. Or if his problems catch up with him and John Fox doesn't like how he prepares for the games he might not last the season.

I would've loved to see DT pan out here. But "iffy hands" is a quote I've heard about him often and when you combine that with his questionable work attitude that was enough to make him lose his spot. It wasn't like Shanny didn't give him a chance. He had several months to improve his standing on the team and didn't do it.

And you're kidding yourself if you don't think that T.O. and OchoCinco don't put in the work to be dominant on the field. They may be blessed with extraordinary talent but they didn't get to where they are today by half assing it in the film room.

i hear what you are saying, but after watching last season and this preseason and these first 5 games your telling me that devin thomas could not help this team more than joey galloway or roydell williams?? i have a serious issue with that, if anyone player would be the one to get the ax as of right now it should be williams, shit williams cost us about 20 yards yesterday when he made a block in that back about 10 yards behind banks.

my whole problem with this is he was never given a chance. you could see the hunger in him every time he touched the feild with special teams, i just don't know why he wasn't given an opportunity to get in there with the offense.

Every coach has their own way of doing things. Some coaches (aka not Mike Shanahan) will put a guy on the field despite attitude problems and questionable work ethic if he feels that guy is better than his other options.

Shanny on the other hand would rather let the less talented but harder working players play as their reward for being hard workers. It's the way it is, and you're probably not going to find many guys that agree with you. And besides, does it matter as long as we continue to win games? Winning games is the bottom line.

Panthers are sooooo turrible in WR depth that Thomas is clearly better than anyone else they have.

that, to me, makes zero sense. someone once said or yelled "you play to win the game". not hand out gold stars for effort

as long as we keep wininng it really doesn't matter, even though i may have a heart attack before i turn 28. winning is the bottom line, but f are we cutting it close this year. you realize that we have won/lost every game this year on the last play(i know, i'm pretending that game didn't happen)
