What McDonald's chicken nuggets really contain (http://www.montrealgazette.com/entertainment/What+McDonald+chicken+nuggets+really+contain/4112721/story.html)

Pretty good article for all the McNugget Hatters

Im all about people eating healthy on their own accord, and I think its good that Americans seem to be waking up about the fact of eating healthier. But at the end of the day if you eat too much organic food vs. too much processed food youre probably still gonna be fat and therefore unhealthy. I don’t think there is anything wrong with eating processed foods that are deep fried in delicious trans-fat oil, and then coated with salt, its letting that become the staple in your diet or eating too much of it that is bad. I would bet that eating 2000 calories of McDonalds every day is a whole lot better for your overall health then eating 3000 calories of organic food.

Also I kind of like the idea of eating mechanically separated chicken, it makes me feel like im a Native American in the old days when they would use every part of the buffalo (except chicken in our case). Would it be better to just use the premium cuts of meat from the chicken and tease starving counties with scraps that could be turned into food?

Haha the stories on that article are hilarious. A fast food emergency 911 call. Awesome.

If you're burning 2000 cals a day that makes sense.

Yeah but that's a variable. You can't just apply that to every person's situation. My whole point with that statement is it's just generalized and isn't something that can be applied to every person's situation. If you sit in an office all day and type on a computer you're probably not burning much. Same as driving a vehicle around all day, you prob don't burn much if at all.

Kind of a flawed argument to just compare calories. The mcnuggets are processed garbage. I would bet the chemicals and preservatives would be far more harmful to your overall health vs someone eating more organic food.

So true. you just have to watch Super Size Me to see the affects of eating that garbage every day.

On Friday I was in rush on my lunch hour because my hair cut took to long, I buckled and bought a McChicken small fry and a cheeseburger. I made it through the fries and chicken sandwich and one bite of the cheeseburger I seriously felt like complete crap the rest of the day and I am no health buff.

I always say McDonald's is the world's High School cafeteria. They both have the same quality of food, awful!

Im only saying 2k calories because I think that’s the average recommended amount. Now if youre a disciple of Tony Horton and do the whole p90 series for a year plus straight like Matty (pics coming out soon?) then consuming more than 2k calories a day is probably much needed. But the average person only needs 2k calories, give or take.

My thought is America’s number 1 food health issue, by far, isn’t the quality of the food we consume, it’s the quantity of food we consume. A lot of fat people make a big deal about lower quality processed foods, while ignoring the much bigger issue.

The problem is if you eat 2k calories in crappy food you are going to end up eating more calories somewhere in the day because your body will still be hungry for the nutrients it needs.

I rather eat 3k calories of a high fiber low fat diet then any McDonald's 2k calories a day diet.

I mean the scum that lines the bathroom floor of a public restroom probably has some calorie count. You can't tell me if I only licked up a 1k calories worth of bathroom scum everyday that I would be healthy.

Yes I understand portion control is a big part of it but so is the quality of that portion of food. Your body will store or burn high fructose corn syrup much differently then it will say spinach. If you start off with a healthy portion of food you are less apt to go back for more becasue your body has a better sense of fullness.

Also you can get fat off organic foods they just simple are less "processed". You can not eat organic chocolate bars all day and think you will be skinny. You have only limited the amount of pesticides or whatever they treat non-organic coco beans with. Organic doesn't mean less calories or fat.

Did you actually watch the movie? At least read the summary of what he did. The guy ate a LOT more then 2k calories a day, I think around 5k a day. It was called Supersize me in part because McDonalds used to asked would you like to Supersize youre order. If/when (like 90% of the time) they asked if he would like to get his order supersized then he had to accept. Back then asking if you want your order supersized was like asking if you would like a drink to go with your order.

Maybe eating McDonalds every day isn’t great for you, but I don’t really think its bad either as long as you eat only your recommended caloric intake (most people 2k) and mix up the menu a little bit (Big Mac one day, McNuggets another). For the average person that gets the average amount of exercise I can assure you that eating 5k calories a day of organic foods is gonna be bad for you, even with a shot of wheat grass on the side. And eating that much food is probably going to result in the exact same health issues the guy in Supersize Me experienced.

Again I don’t think Americans really have a quality of food problem. However we definitely have a quantity of food epidemic.
