Lets keep things into perspective and not panic people!

Football is as much mental as it is about coaching and talent...

I knew that when we lost that Texans game,that this game was going to be more difficult to win.
Not because we lost to the Texans,but in the way we lost.

Not only did we have a 17 pt lead and blew it in the 4th Qtr,but we actually won the game on a Gano 52 yard FG and then the TO as he kicked it...then he missed and we lose.

Those kind of games stay with you, no matter how mentally strong you are.
Then we go on the road to whom we assume is the easiest game of the year and get surprised by how Bradford is playing and just look totally out of sinc.

I PROMISE you...we win that game against the Texans...we beat the Rams as well...

So now we find ourselves in a possible season turnaround or season ending game imo...

Do we come out uninspired and lay another egg,as Mcnabb being the only guy on the team who gives a damn,wanting to prove the eagles wrong?

Or do we challenge the Eagles and play the way we all know we can, like in the Dallas game and challenge every play and tackle well and make big plays on offense like the Texans game...?
Thus,pulling out a huge win and upset and turning our season around and going 2-0 in the division?

We will see very soon!

Its not like we played a bad team that over-achieved, we LOST to a bad team. There are some positives to take away from the games, but the negatives are huge. Poor game plan/play calling coupled with our "playmakers" falling short (pun intended, but not solely directed at CP). The same things we were not supposed to see under MS. They don't get a pass becasue its a new this or that. The head coach is supposed to put the best team possible on the field and win the games you are supposed to and a few your not. We SHOULD be 3-0, at 1-1 the team used there "get out of jail card" in loss to Texans. 1-2, losing to the Rams after blowing a win at home, is garbage but its still early enough to fix some things.

Now comes the real test.

Kind of reminds me of the first year of Gibbs 2.0.

It is disheartening to lose against a team like the Rams, but we have to remember, it isn't going to happen within one season. Let's at least get into year two before we start jumping off the cliff.

It was tough to lose but what most dont seem to get is that the Skins are essentially on the same level as the Rams. This game was one bad team beating another bad team.

Yeah I was never in love with the idea of Jim Haslett as the DC. I warmed to the idea when you looked at his Ds while he was in Pitt and I thought there may be a chance for some of that here, but at this point we just do not have the personel. I don't thnk there is a easy fix at all, and yes Haslett is definately part of the problem but he could be part of the solution if he can get this thing turned around. If not MS will fire his ass either during the season or next offseason.

Mike does run through DCs like nobodys business.

Where is GW when you need him? Oh yeah winning championships with the Saints.

Even after the Texans loss I still thought this could be a playoff team... but not anymore. We are capped at 6-10.

But no need to panic people, we should be used to this by now.

Go back to whatever you were doing and I'll see you all next offseason.

This is probably the best case scenario for this team this year and I even go to say just a playoff birth would be awesome.

Much like the 09 Jets season we are in a bump in the road but there is enough talent in the room both on the field and in the booth to believe we could make a run like them this year, not saying NF Champ game but at least playoffs.

For what's it worth,the Saints were awesome at creating turnovers,which this team is doing now with Hasletts new scheme.

But just like Haslett,Williams gets gashed for yards just the same. But these type of defenses are supposed to over compensate,by getting more possessions off turnovers and the offenses to score a lot of points.

The Saints won the SB because of their great offense and their ability to create turnovers and stripping that football

Not because G.Williams is some genius...

I mean after all...Jason Campbell greatest game as a Redskin, was last season against the Saints and the "great" Gregg Williams.

We actually would have won that game if isn't wasn't forthe strip ball by Robert Meachim on Kareem Moore's INT strip return for a TD.

The falcons lit them up yesterday...And the putrid Niners who were dominated by the Chiefs....were able to put up 20+ pt's against that "awesome" Gregg Williams defense.

I think Bradford NOW..is better than Alex Smith...

IMO...Gregg Williams is way overrated

Gregg Williams made the Saints defense good enough to compliment their powerful offense. This year they are suffering from a suspect d-line (esp the DTs), they are thin at LBs, and are starting a converted CB as their FS (replacing Darren Sharper).

In past seasons I've felt that we needed an offense good enough to compliment our defense. Now that we have that, we've gone ahead and start with a brand new defensive scheme. Now we have a semi-decent offense to go along with our growing-pains defense.

GW is a very good D coord. He's historically had great defenses w/ teams w/out alot of names. Saints aren't a great defense but they do a good job of creating TO's.

The Bleeping Rams beat the Skins by 2 TDs and dominated the second half of the game and the way that all of this will be turned around is to re-sign Brandon Banks? It took me at least 10 seconds to be able to get my jaw back up off the floor after that...

Folks, the reason everyone seems to be so outraged today is that the expecations for this team were unrealisticly high to begin with.

Mike Shanahan is a good football coach - - but he does not have a magic wand.

Jim Haslett is a defensive coordinator who has had some good defenses and some bad defenses - - depending on the talent he had to coach on those defenses. This year, he has middling talent; it is not the worst in the league by a longshot; it surely is not near the best either.

Remember when Bill Clinton ran for Pres in 1992? His advisors kept reminding everyone in the campaign, "It's the economy, stupid."

Let me remind: "It's the talent, stupid."

The Redskins are not "talent-rich". Nonwetheless, they have more talent than the Rams and they should beat teams like the Rams on the basis of superior talent; so there is something else going on there. My personal hypothesis - - which I cannot prove - - is that the veteran Redskins players have lived in a pampered environment long enough to believe that all they have to do is show up against an "inferior" opponent and the "inferior" opponent will quiver in fear. Sadly, that usually does not happen...

This team will be in the upper echelons only after they purge the players who play inferior teams by mailing it in and replacing them with solid draftees and free agent signings of football players - - not guys with stats who want to be paid. The Redskins have signed a ton of the latter and rarely do they ever work out here in the pampered envrioment that leads them to believe they really are as great as they think they are.
