12thMan 09-27-2010, 12:20 PM The skins historically play UP against good teams and DOWN against bad teams. Lets hope they have some pride and actually show up to this game..... Haynesworth actually said the team looked past the Rams, and it showed.
You said it. I'm confident this will be the outcome. Has been our MO for years now. If the team is good, count on the Skins showing up or pulling an upset. If the other team sucks, the Skins will bury them for three straight quarters and pack it in. That's how we roll.
SUNRA 09-27-2010, 12:21 PM They will be beat the Eagles this week. Things I would like to see:
Stop the run
Do something about those short passes and play action plays, they have been getting killed for the last 2 weeks and I see no adjustment.
I'm with you on this game. McNabb and Shanhan will be ready for this one! Too much is at stake and the playcalling in the redzone will be successful. Trent Williams, Kareen Moore and Anthony Armstrong are back. 3rd down conversions will be prevented and we win. 28, 21
aceinthehouse 09-27-2010, 12:38 PM I'm not a huge gambler, but if you want to lay some money down...this is the game to do it imo...
I think were 6.5 or 7 pt underdogs...probably the only reason it isn't more is because we have a QB.
We usually play our division rivals pretty tough, no matter how bad we suck. (with the exception @Giants)
I would imagine Shanny and Mcnabb will have a huge chip on their shoulder this game.
Hopefully,Haslett does too....
I'm not questioning Shanny cause he's working with new players and has done a decent job at getting pt's on the board. 13,27 and 16
Yea not great, but were not laying 3 or 7 pt eggs on the field like last season. Were just not getting TD's in the redzone.
We fix that and we will be much better.
If haslett doesn't get this D fixed and fixed fast,i will be jumping on the fire Jim Haslett bandwaggon very soon!!!
Not yet,but he has me concerned a little...
We need to have a big Defensive performance against the eagles, for me to feel a little better.
I don't expect us to shut them down, but I want to see sacks and forced fumbles and INT's or we won't stand a chance!!

Dread-Skin 09-27-2010, 12:40 PM The Positive
Anyways...just wanted to say...
Next Sunday against the eagles imo, could be the turning point of the season
Like I said before...we win and we're 2-2 overall with a 2-0 division record and a 2-1 conference record with G.B. coming to our backyard and sitting in 1st place....
We lose and were 1-3 overall with a 1-1 division record and a 1-2 Conference record and in bad shape.
And that seems to be the only voice or reason to talk me off the ledge. Yeah, we lost but we move forward onto Sunday and beat Philly, we are 2-0 in the division. Screw all problems- the team has to stay focused on winning the division b/c that is going to be the key to getting into the post season. I am not going into panic mode and will be silent on Haslett for the rest of the week b/c of ACEINTHEHOUSE. Thank you for sound reasoning !
CRedskinsRule 09-27-2010, 12:42 PM I had said this would be a test of the "new" attitude, and well I guess they failed. They ended up looking past this team and looked pathetic on the field.
That said. I expect we will play Philly better, and one can only hope that McNabb knows their CB's better than anyone.
Really Really sickened by yesterday's game tho'. Just was another round of the same old Skins :(
skinsfan69 09-27-2010, 12:48 PM We simply do not have the players. We're a 4-12 team that has a better QB, better offensive scheme but a defense that doesn't fit and a tough schedule. 4-6 wins is probably keeping things in perspective.
aceinthehouse 09-27-2010, 12:52 PM Another positive to see from this loss...
I HATE losing to the Rams, but I would rather lose to a team, that most likely will not make the playoffs, than lose the tie-breaker on a team in another conference because they too are 9-7 or 10-6.
Not saying the Rams can't make the Playoffs in the crappy NFC West, but most likely they would have to win the division, since I see only 1 team out of that conference making the Playoffs anyways...the division winner.
So it's almost better to lose to the rams who have no shot at the playoffs, than like say....The Bears or even the Bucs maybe? See what I mean.
So if we were to lose say the lions and rams but beat the Bucs and Bears or even packers for that matter...
We could possibly get a wildcard if say we were 9-7 and the Bears were 9-7,but we get in because of a head-to-head victory....
Other than a conference loss hurting us...if we regroup and go 9-7 or 10-6...we don't have to worry about losing a tiebreaker to a 6-10 rams team for that last 6th seed..
See what I mean?
I guess what I'm saying is....In the NFL,it's almost better to lose against the real bad teams, than to lose to 9-7..10-6 playoff contenders in your own conference..do to the head-to-head playoff elimination process.
That's all...
artmonkforhallofamein07 09-27-2010, 12:52 PM I agree. But the way we lost was SO disheartening. IF we can figure out a way to beat Philly then yes we are right in it, if we lose again then have the Colts and GB we are looking at a big time FAIL this year.
I was a little to optomistic about the switch to the 3-4. We are getting gashed in the run and pass. We shall see though there is still 13 weeks left to this year and plenty of time to get this thing fixed.
aceinthehouse 09-27-2010, 01:04 PM So in my post above...
it would almost be better if we lose to the Rams,Lions,Texans,Colts,Titans,Jags
and beating GB,Bears,Bucs and Vikings....
And say...go 5-1 in the division...
That's a 9-7 record
But if the Lions and Rams are both out of playoff picture
and our other 4 losses are to AFC teams...
and lets say The eagles win east division at 11-5 (example)
Packers win North at 12-4
Saints win South at 11-5 and Seattle wins West at 10-6
And say the last 2 wildcard spots are open to
Bears 9-7
Redskins 9-7
Bucs 9-7
Falcons 10-6
Dallas 9-7 (we sweep them)
Vikings 9-7
Falcons get 5th seed
Guess who gets the 6th?
Plenty of games guys...
This eagles game is a biggie!
