so sad to hear this

Me too. That team and town just have had devastating losses. Goodell should make some sort addition to the rookie symposium or have more IDK to prevent or counsel these young men. I hope their families find peace.

Just any death in the NFL takes me back to Sean.

Sorry to hear. The NFL cannot cover everything and its not like this is happening year after year. I'd say drinking and driving is a bigger problem in the NFL.

When a person comes to a crossroads where the choice is suicide or life, to view that as cowardly would be an inhumane statement. If you had a loved one that was so depressed that the only alternative they could see is suicide, would you not have some compassion? Sure you would.

There is nothing cowardly about suicide or the depression associated with it, far from it. It’s from a sense of hopelessness that people consider suicide. Those that act upon it have not perpetrated a cowardly act, they are acting on emotions out of control.

23, just really beginning to start life. RIP McKinley. Condolences to the family and friends.

So sad. During my freshman year of college one of my close childhood friends took his own life. It was so gut-wrenching and terribly difficult to deal with. Suicide is a baffling and tragic act.

As an SEC guy, my Gators had to face Kenny McKinley every year when he was at South Carolina. Heck of a football player.

This is horrible tragedy. I hope his family and friends find some peace. RIP Kenny.

Stay classy folks.

How would you all have reacted to these kinds of jokes right after the death of Sean Taylor?

Obviously, he was a troubled soul. May he now rest in peace.

And may his family members find their own peace...

Yes we definitly need to stay classy, but my joke about being "dead on" was a joke in reference to what appeared to be a pun from the person I quoted. It was not slamming the player.

In regards to Sean Taylor.... I really didn't care that people made jokes. What bothered me more was the fact that other players as well as fans attacked Tayler's character after he was dead and called him a thug.

Again I didn't feel I attacked this player personally or his character for which he is not around in order to defend himself. Clearly he was troubled and we might not ever know why.

For those who are contemplating or have attempted in the past I have an over abundance of compassion for. I'll do almost anything neccessary to help the individual in order to keep them from doing it.

However, thats where my compassion stops. I feel everyone is on earth to learn a lesson to improve themselves.... kinda like school. Every year you go to school -the more you learn, to decide your going to commit suicide is like quiting on school or giving up. bailing out. I don't feel compassion for someone who has committed suicide just like I don't feel compassion for someone who decided to quit school after 8th grade. God had a plan and they bailed.

I do have compassion for the families though. No one should have to go through having a family member do that.

That is crazy, and such a waste of a life. I do not understand suicide. Never have, and I really think it is the most cowardly thing you could do.

Agree, my heart goes out to his family.

My comment about "lights out" was a wrong use of words. I in no mean ment it as a pun. It was a statement of fact as to how he played at South Carolina. I chose a poor word choice.

....don't mistake cowardly for distressed.......they are two completely different things.
