If he wants a coaching career, he needs to learn how to be a coach. The list of great players who turned into mediocre - - or bad - - coaches is a long one. Coaching is a skill that is different from playing. Just a guess here, but I would not be surprised to see Samuels take a position as a position coach for a "second-tier college" sometime soon to start climbing the coaching ladder. Alvin Walton 09-18-2010, 12:48 PM Samuels is beginning to fall into my category of Art Monk and Darrell Dreen type of classy guys. MTK 09-18-2010, 01:41 PM Why not keep him here as an assistant next year? Longtimefan 09-18-2010, 01:48 PM Demonstrates his love for the game of football and especially the Redskins. Solid citizen with great character and a great team leader. If it is his intention to pursue coaching on a fulltime basis in the future, the Redskins would be wise not to overlook him. Bless you Chris Samuels. Lotus 09-18-2010, 01:52 PM ^ I wasn't arguing against that, Matty. I'd be happy to see him here forever. I just was thinking that you can only have so many OL coaches. It is in his best interest to get his own bona fide coaching spot rather than lurking in the shadows. My comments were directed at Samuels' personal best interests. If those best interests are served here, I say great! If his best interests are served elsewhere, then I wish him all the best. It could very well be there won't be a position for him here in the future, but I'm sure any recomendation from the Redskins would serve him well among the other 31 teams. |
