It just adds to the division rivalry, I want to see more of this kind of bitchiness. Hopefully we'll regain our winning ways under Coach Gibbs and we can take a turn yapping it up.

I think it's a hoot! It's great that he said something condescending about Snyder-- it adds fuel to the rivalry. Stuff like this is part of what makes being a fan of this game so much fun. I'm overjoyed that Joe Gibbs is back, the NFC "BEast" is back, the Redskins-Cowboys rivalry is back, and Jerry Jones is talkin' smack! These are happy times, my friends, happy times!

All he said was I've been watching them spend money the past few years. It is an observation and one based on facts. We spend money so does he but on a less frequent basis.

When Snyder Spends money and gets to the playoff then you can ostracize him for his comments but until then JJ has a valid point.

I hate to say it, but that's a good point. Until the Skins succeed on the field with their style of off-season spending, the critics will keep at it.
We will prove all of them wrong this year though because of one big difference: Head Coach and Team President Joe Gibbs.

Saden1, I don't think that Dan Snyder's actions have been a factor in the teams lack of success. For the past 5 seasons it seems top have been chemistry between team and coach.

cpayne5:

If you took what I wrote as a condemnation of the opinion of anyone who never played football seriously, I apologize. That is not what I meant by any stretch of the imagination. I was directly comparing JJ and Danny Boy and observing that the difference in the level of understanding in THOSE TWO HUMAN BEINGS might well be explained by their different involvement in football.

As I said, I'm sorry if I offended you.

RedskinRat:

Coaching has not been stellar in the last 5 years of the Washington Redskins. I certainly agree with that. But that does not exonerate Danny Boy for several reasons:

1. He brought in players that the coaches did not want and then got mad when the players and coaches did not "bond together" and win lots of games. Jeff George is the most egregious example of that and it was Danny Boy who made that happen.

2. He sided with the players in the Norv Turner Rebellion and pulled the plug on a season when the Skins might have made the playoffs (they weren't going anywhere once in the playoffs, but they might have had one more game). Terry Robiske got a whole lot more out of that team in those final games than Norv did, right?

3. He made it clear that Bruce Smith had to get plenty of minutes last year when the coahces were ready to give him only minimal spot duty - because Smith couldn't get the job done anymore. That helped team chemistry!

4. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, it was Danny Boy who hired all these coaches who hired all those staffs who did not get along with the prima donna players that Danny Boy brought in here. Who are you going to blame for the coaching hires?

If I bring in employees I expect them to work professionally. I think he may have learnt that this isn't the case in Pro Sports.

That was because Turner wasn't his hire and he was desperate to be one of the boys.

No but it increased $$$, which is why we have the most dollar efficient NFL team.

Vinnie or whoever else has Dan's ear.

Thanks for clarifying sports, I had thought JJ had the Cowboys for longer than he did, but I guess not! There are coaches who have never played a lick of football but are excellent coaches. I'm not saying I was offended, it's just that playing organized football doesn't discredit someone for understanding football things.

Either way, I hope the rivalry gets going again, because we've lost more times than I can count. At least my boy beat them once! VIVA SPURRIER!

What is Snyder accountable for? For that matter, what is any owner, including JJ, accountable for?

Snyder has a great marketing machine but we all know that Skins have the most loyal fans even before Snyder became an owner. He has generated a lot of excitement and extra money in revenue but he hasn't delivered anything to the fans yet. And if, god forbid, Gibbs doesn’t win what do you think will happen? How can one possibly get excited about the Skins after Gibbs? I mean, if the Skins were a publicly traded company the fallout from the fans would surely bankrupt them. The Snyder story will end in chapter 13 unless he chooses to condense the story to 7 chapter.
