It's F'ing Houston week!skinsfan69 09-15-2010, 12:13 PM Houston's offense will give them the advantage. It's going to be tough to hold them down. Paintrain 09-15-2010, 12:16 PM And to add to the Shanahan/Kubiak connection, we shouldn't forget that Kubiak cut his teeth in this league under Mike Shanahan as a player and coach. It's the classic teacher vs. pupil this week. Or is it teacher vs. pupil vs. teacher with all of the Kubiak, Mike and Kyle connections? Foster had a great game last week but let's not lose sight of how bad Indy's defense is. They aren't scaring anyone defensively, especially in the run defense area. That being said, our best bet is to shut down the run to force the ball into Schaub's hands. It's really pick your poison but our pass rush/secondary is the strength of the defense so I'd rather put it on them than leaving up to Kemo, Carriker and Golston. Offensively, we've got to work the middle of the field. I don't know why we didn't see any seam routes at the safeties last week. Our defense spent too much time on the field and offensively I don't think we ever got into a rhythm so that factors into how sluggish we seemed. Brighter days are ahead and they start Sunday! GhettoDogAllStars 09-15-2010, 12:18 PM Teacher and Pupil vs Pupil/Teacher diehard 09-15-2010, 12:21 PM I think our CBs will match up pretty well. Let's focus on stopping the run for this game and the future. McNabb is still better than Schaub and that's saying something. BleedBurgundy 09-15-2010, 01:03 PM They averaged 5 yards a pop, while I don't think they "ran all over us" but still, the run D needs to be tightened up. Exactly, it wasn't that the total yardage was obscene, it was that they could run it whenever they wanted. Fortunately, they were less interested in running than trying to pile up meaningless stats for their rookie wr. saden1 09-15-2010, 01:08 PM They are good, I don't think they are that good. We should be able to pick that defense apart with us having Kyle on the team. Also it's going to be an all day battle between our Williams and theirs. I'm taking ours and I'm taking the Redskins in a big win. 27-14. Hail to the Redskins! Bucket 09-15-2010, 01:20 PM Going from Dallas Defense to Houston is a huge downgrade, and I think Arian Foster is totally overated. Keliand Williams could run for 150 yards against the colts undersized dline. Foster had huge holes all game, and wasn't even touched till after 10 yards off the LOS.... He also didn't get all those yards till Sanders was injured and out of the game. I think we need to worry about the Pass attack from the Texans, and hopefully Kyle has some insight on that. freddyg12 09-15-2010, 01:24 PM Good points from everyone. I am very excited to see TW vs Mario. Nice follow up to Ware for the rookie. Also excited to see Hall vs Johnson. If Hall can slow him down enough I think we'll be able to focus on stopping the run more. I'm sure there will be a lot of zone by the skins, but if they were to match up 1 on 1 I think Rogers would be a better fit. He has the size & he played a great game on sunday, though I wish he'd caught that int. as usual. BleedBurgundy 09-15-2010, 01:25 PM anyone know how much Kyle Shanahan tends to throw to the running backs? I noticed Portis only had one catch during week 1. Slingin Sammy 33 09-15-2010, 02:16 PM Concerns: - Our front 3 is not very good. Houston just ran for a butt-load of yards at 6.1 per carry. I didn't see the game, but from what I've listened to the Texans are described as a much more physical team than years past. This does not bode well for our D. I'm sure Haslett will gameplan for this, but to do that you are now relying on our CBs in Man Coverage vs. A. Johnson. I'm not as worried about Rogers, but I don't like a D. Hall vs. A. Johnson match-up. - Our OLBs are still making too many mistakes in the run game, again not a good thing for a team that will likely be planning a run heavy / PA day. - Houston only gave up 44 yards rushing.....but we are talking the Colts. Rush is often a four letter word to them. Good Stuff for us: - Our running game picked up in the second half (60 yds vs. 29 in the first). Hopefully this a sign of things to come. - Houston's D ain't the Cowgirl D. If TW can control MW, we should be fine offensively. The Colts O is good, but 463 yds passing is a lot. The Houston secondary isn't scaring anyone. - KS knows the Texans better than Kubiak knows the Shanahans. We should have a tactical/gameplanning advantage. - We're at home. It will boil down to if we can stop the run on a consistent basis. We do, we win. My prediction, Skins 30 - Texans 23. |
