Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth

Nice post. I'm kind of past the point in the debate of MS v AH. I say who cares now? AH isn't showing enough to make it a serious question any longer.

If we're very, very lucky we get a player from trade who can actually help us. If we're just lucky AH will stay, play and be significantly better than he's been so far.

The problem is, our defense, especially the d-line, is suspect w/o a dominant AH. My take is this: if Mike and Jim couldn't see ahead to AH struggling so badly - or if they did consider it but do nothing, as we've seen to shore up the situation - my faith in the new regime is greatly diminished. Mike can't win w/o a dominant defense, a part of the game he doesn't seem to understand well. Much was put on Haslett's shoulders because 1) of Mike being the HC and 2) the unit in place was very, very good and just a piece or 2 short of being dominant.

If our defense is noticeably worse than last year we should be very, very concerned.

One of the biggest questions lost in this whole mess (why the 3-4). I really hope it doesn't come to this, but if our defense falters I hope someone makes MS accountable for making this switch. I'm still surprised that with his win-now attitude (instead of rebuilding), he would want to make such a drastic change.

So we finally get to the end of the pre-season and guys like Vonnie Holliday don't have to dress but the best D-lineman on the team has to play 49 of 55 plays against bread truck drivers.
.

The other players you mention took part in 100% of camp...AH did not.If he was the best D-linemen like you said he had been there through the manditory min camps and learned the system.
AH wants to play DE in a 3-4,AH needs to play NT.....there are needs and there are wants,at NT AH would be all pro every year ...doubt about it,it's about what would be best for the team...not Albert.Oh and those were some pretty good bread truck drivers.

Ace was saying we were wanting to add Britt, I figured you would have the scoop.

Think he said he saw something on some other message board. Not sure what exactly. I can't speak for rumors posted on other message boards

Orakpo says this is Distracting the team

Brian Orakpo: Haynesworth situation 'very distracting' - NFL - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=nfp-20100908_brian_orakpo_haynesworth_situation_very_d istracting)

One thing interesting to note:
Sheft reported the Titans came to the redskins about trading Albert over Labor Day weekend.

The relationship between Shanny and Albert had been cooling it had seemed then BOOM!
All this blows up!

When you add this info, plus the non stop drama all off season on Shanny and Albert, one has to wonder? Are the Titans putting out stuff to the Press to start these stories and false stories to these Mortensons,Reids and other minute by minute story breakers...?

The reason I ask is because...remember when the Titans accused us of tampering charges with Albert haynesworth when we signed him. One has to wonder if they are really trying to create conflict as much as they can for their own reasons.

This is all speculation of course, but I find these stories really stupid and on par with the "is brett coming back..or not" drama throughout the off season.

Who knows?

If Shanahan is the one who decides on the trade, then he stays. Shanahan doesn't want to come on as being weak in a battle of egos and wills. He will bench his ass all season unless he gets what's fair for him. So therefore, Schefter is right.

If this is the case, MS needs to be less concern about battling wills and egos, and more concerned about the battle in the trenches with our d-line.

Who cares anymore? And orakpo needs to understand that haynesworth started all this shit, he's the one who asked for a trade months ago . BA should have dumped him then, but for some reason I think shanny wants AH in Wsh.

i think teams werent willing to part with too much compensation for big al back in april up until now b/c its my suspicion big al would want a new contract with the new team.

so not only would a team have to trade compensation for big al to the skins, they would then have to pay the man. thats not too appealing.

Read Orakpo's quote:
"It's very distracting, but we try not to let it get to us," linebacker Brian Orakpo said Tuesday afternoon. "Because we're tired of talking about it, Albert's tired of talking about it, [Mike] Shanahan's tired of talking about it. Everybody is. We want to move on to be a normal team in this league and not worry about individualism. ...We got a big game coming up and we can't be worrying about No. 92 right now and all this speculation."

"I don't care about all of that. I just worry [about] the Redskins right now. That's all we can worry about. There's always speculation about everything. I could be on the trading block, you never know. That's just the name of the game."
It's NOT that AH is distracting at work, or that MS is giving AH grief. It's the media's incessant dogging of the story. I realize it can eventually hurt the team, but this "distraction" is not about whether AH will play or not play, it's about "Is the media gonna ask about this sh** again :vomit:"

I doubt in the locker room the two men are sitting in MS' office smokin cigars, but I also doubt that they are evading each other, or pleading their case to the team. The attitude, in my belief, is we are here, there's the field, let's get it done. Now, I understand the definition of "let's get it done" is different for both men, but come Sunday night, there is only one definition for both, and that is to Beat the Dallas Cowboys.

I think Orakpo fully understands the situation, he's just speaking the truth and saying what's on his mind, that's all. I guarantee you if these guys are talking publicly about this, what they're saying behind closed doors is far worse.

But to an earlier point, myself and others have stated, this has now become a distraction for this football team. This is not some media hype or fan obsession blown out of proportion and the players haven't completely tuned it out either. The obvious loser in all of this is Albert Haynesworth. His legacy and respect, or lack thereof, around the league will be damaged for good. He can wave Canton bye bye. And by the way he's been playing lately, God, I don't see how this guy makes it to another Pro-Bowl.

But Shanahan shares some of the blame too. Not for Haynesworth's knuckleheadeness, but this tough guy don't tread on me attitude. I swear, we've gone from one extreme to the other with our last two coaches. One guy was so soft he couldn't give a half time speech. The other is such a hard ass players have rules about where to park their cars (or least that's the word on the street). Success is somewhere in the middle and Shanny, for all of his success in the past, has done a miserable job managing one prima dona. I wish we would cut the guy already.
