mbedner3420 09-07-2010, 10:32 PM If they activate him and plays, he would give minimal effort like he did against the cards, that's what Shanahan is afraid off.
I would bet you are probably right. They have no incentive to play him. His 3-4 technique is pretty poor and its clear every attempt by Shanny to motivate him only makes him lazier so why activate someone who may not even play at 50% of his capability in a position he plays sloppily.
The only reason to play him would be to let him know that a solid performance Sunday may make it easier to use as trade bait, but if he plays well, fans will clamor to keep him (so its a bit of a double edged sword).
Darrell_Green_28 09-07-2010, 10:34 PM then pull his ass out if he doesnt give effort , thats more ammo as to what kind of player he is. this is all getting to be bull, or maybe could be a genius move, a MS Smokescreen . that would be great
GusFrerotte 09-07-2010, 10:38 PM Shanny is pouring it on too thick for it to be a smokescreen. And if it is I am sure Dallas isn't buying it since it is so blatant. They probably are expecting AH to start now. It would be funny if it was a smokescreen though.
Darrell_Green_28 09-07-2010, 10:43 PM Can you picture AH and MS in the Coach's office right now Smoking a fat Cigar, saying, "This was a genius idea now they all think we are pulling the team apart and causing drama, and really we are all good and couldn't be better."
mbedner3420 09-07-2010, 10:44 PM that would be the most elaborate smoke screen ever. After the Jets preseason game, sit him down, tell him that you want to verbally trash him in the media, tell him you want to play him in 89 percent of defensive snaps in the fourth preseason game, ask him to look like he has a broken spirit as he plays, and tell him to perform with improper 34 technique, and finally float to the media the teams interest in a trade only to use it as the most impressive smoke screen I have ever seen in professional sports or otherwise to confuse wade "big dummy" phillips (who, by the way, continuously has his slack jawed, confused face on full time).
Saying this is all a smoke screen would be more impressive to me than the ending of "the usual suspects" - though it would be great if it were true.
Pocket$ $traight 09-07-2010, 10:48 PM No not really. In every post you have made from #224,232,237,241, you have eluded to the fact that you think this is all Mike Shanahans fault, you have implied as much all I'm asking is where are you getting your info from?
Alright, let me break it down so even a Giant's fan can follow along. The head coach is the face of the team. Obviously, Shanahan has a problem with Haynesworth. You still with me? So instead of trading him during the draft, Shanahan decided that he was going to keep him on the team. So week after week, day after day, Haynesworth becomes the lead story because Shanahan has to play some games to show who's boss (he did this at Denver too, you probably don't remember this and will ask me to look up examples). So we finally get to the end of the pre-season and guys like Vonnie Holliday don't have to dress but the best D-lineman on the team has to play 49 of 55 plays against bread truck drivers. Then the team rips him to the local paper (which happened several times in the offseason). This right before the one of the biggest games of the year.
The leader of the team, Shanahan, has been in control this whole time and this situation is out of control. This whole week we should be pumped about Dallas but instead we get to think about Golston and Ma'ake getting pushed around the field while Al is sipping gatorade.
VTSKINS61 09-07-2010, 10:58 PM On Madden 11 I trade his fat butt before I even start the preseason, usually for one of the bears defensive tackles
GusFrerotte 09-07-2010, 10:58 PM Pocket is very straight on this one. This is either the most elaborate smokescreens in NFL history(one that has been in the making for 8 months) or just a major league Ego war. My money is on the ego war. Like I stated above, I am not sure we got what we thought we were going to get. Bobby Beathred and Charlie Casserly would have had Hayneswoth gone by the draft.
artmonkforhallofamein07 09-07-2010, 10:59 PM Ok.
A couple of questions here, I am not going to fan flames.
Is this information coming from the Redskins? This was first reported by ESPN correct?
If this story was Redskins generated or came from our organization, would you not have heard this on the local radio shows this morning? Or read it on Redskins Insider? Before it hit ESPN.
This story is being generated from the outside, IE the Titans org. When has Chris Mortensen broke Redskins related news?
Are we actively shopping AH? I do not believe so.
Did the Titans give us a call over the weekend and give the Redskins a trade offer on trying to acquire AH?
Yes.
Did the Redskins organization decline said trade offer?
Obviously because he is still a Skin.
Is there a chance that this information is coming from the Titans in order to try and draw this whole deal out even more and force some sort of trade to occur? This is possible as well.
There is a whole ton of speculation out there right now. We as fans do not have the facts, niether does the media really know the truth.
BUT the SPIN of the story always goes back to Mike Shanahan and the whole offseason mess. If you read everything out there AH will be traded, deactivated, will not start, may play, Haslett has some plans for him Sunday, may start, and he may be activated but may not play much.
Pretty much what I am saying is NO one but the coaches and the FO really know what the truth actually is.
Just trying to get a little perspective as to all the information that has come out since.... Saturday. 4 days ago, since then you could have read any of the bold print up top about AH, and if you are like me all of it. My god none of us know anything about this whole mess. Including ESPN, Washington Post, and 99.999% of the posters on this board.

If we're going to talk about smokescreens, this one by far seems to be the most plausible.
