Drift Reality 11-22-2004, 10:01 AM Guys,
Although we lost 28-6, I have to admit, it was great to watch Ramsey in there. It was such a breath of fresh air to see a quarterback gun it around with some accuracy. He missed on a couple of deep balls but Ramsey will be able to hit the deep ball eventually.
His problem has always been making quick reads and hitting the short ball - and I thought he did that to perfection. The quick reads was something that always freaked me out in the past, but I think it may have been a combination of coaching and him being too tough for his own good. They are doing a good job turning him into an NFL QB.
I think you will see him continue to build on what he started with Coles and McCants last year, and really learn how to play with Taylor.
Gardiner - I think will never be a consistent receiver and should be shipped off (I hope!) next year to another team.
Also, I am in the minority in thinking Gibbs did the right thing to stick with short passes and protect Ramsey. I think Gibbs is seeing the big picture and building Ramsey up game-by-game.
I also agree that Ramsey did a great job at getting rid of the ball very quickly. Granted the offense was very vanilla, but still, gotta give him some credit for executing and playing smart.
Redskins_P 11-22-2004, 10:21 AM I agree Ramsey did do a great job. He took what the defense gave him ( and Gibbs for that matter ). I think part of the reason why the offense was so vanilla was because Gibbs was trying to protect Ramsey. He knew that Philly would be blitzing from every angle to try to rattle Ramsey.
I know many won't agree with me, but I think Ramsey is the QB of our future no doubt.
irish 11-22-2004, 10:32 AM PR played much better than I expected. Unfortunately the playcalling was really bad. I have seen high school teams with more imagination in their offense. There is no way the skins can win with playcalling that was displayed yesterday.
FRPLG 11-22-2004, 11:38 AM Ramsey at least gave me the feeling we had a chance in this game. He made no real mistakes when it counted and it was a relief to see that he can actually throw the ball to a receiver. Weird to see how none of the receivers could catch a ball cleanly in the early going. Shows just how weak Brunell's all was.
redsk1 11-22-2004, 01:02 PM I thought Ramsey played well, too. He did what he was supposed to do, for the plays called. He missed a couple deep throws but that doesn't worry me. Gibbs really didn't let Ramsey throw downfield too much. Thats probably an understatement. Lots of drops again and penalties.
I agree that Gardner is a good talent but you never know when he is going to catch the ball.
memphisskin 11-22-2004, 01:04 PM Were we watching the same game? Outside of the number and name on the back of the jersey, the quarterbacking looked the same. Another outstanding effort by the defense wasted, although we still can't seem to cover tight ends or backs in the red zone.
Back to PR, he flat out sucked yesterday. Outside of one drive, the first and goal fiasco, there was no point at which I thought we had a chance to score. The playcalling was vanilla, but Ramsey's passes were all over the place. I'm not even going to discuss the qb sneak, but I'm guessing Ramsey covered his eyes and crapped his pants on that one.
I have no confidence in Ramsey at all. QB of the future, get back to me on that one. Right now I'd like to see a qb who can hit the freaking checkdown with some consistency! Or a qb who can complete the wideout screen, a staple of our offense for 3 yrs running now. I thought (hoped) that Spurrier took that play with him to South Carolina. Why on earth would you run that play twice in a row? And I thought Gibbs had figured out how to get Portis going, where were the quick hitters we saw against Chicago?
The playcalling sucked, the offense sucked, and the officiating sucked again. Do we have to get screwed on every challenge? If anyone could explain to me why our dbs always get called for pass interference, yet teams do everything but punch our wideouts without anything being called. We're not good enough for it to be a conspiracy, but I'm beginning to wonder. You'd think we'd catch a break here and there, but nope we continue to just get the shaft.
gortiz 11-22-2004, 01:21 PM Okay, which one was it? I had to hear the game on the damn radio so you can imagine I could only hear we ran another WR screen over and over, from the stats and from what I heard i would grade PR at C+....
How can Memphis being saying one thing about PR's game and everyone else be saying another??? Which one is it?
By the way, Doc was RIPPING the skins on ESPN radio...it was hilarious cause despite trying to stay neutral, he couldn't help but get worked up!!
Gmanc711 11-22-2004, 01:33 PM Gortiz, it was closer to the majority I honestly belive ( even though I'm part of that ). Ramsey didnt play that bad, he didnt play great, but he didnt " Suck " by any stretch of the word. I know damn well, had Brunell been in there, he would have missed alot more passes than Ramsey did. Ramsey didnt really do anytihng perticularly great, he had a few bad plays, had a few decent plays. This game was nothing to get real excited over , but I dont think it was anything to get dissapointed over either.
He completed 62% of his throws and considering the 5 or 6 drops he could have been much better.
I guess that's sucking...
