The America's Game clip from the Bronco's 2nd SB shows a lot of positive motivation techniques, and I am sure he is using a lot now. AH simply got on the wrong side of the stick, and now I am guessing, at least for the beginning of the season he is gonna see more and more positives.

I also don't think you can't use positive motivation on an entitled person, because they see themselves as deserving of any positive relief or praise you give them.

Would be interesting to know just what positive forms of motivation have been thus far utilized in an attempt to change the mindset of the player. I do know that all players are not motivated the same way and you cannot always use a collective approach when attempting to do so. Some players have to be treated a little different sometimes in order to get the maximum out of them. It' the coaches responsibility to know how to accomplish that. To continue to methodically infuriate an already infuriated player is not the best method of getting the player to play to his maximum potential. There are better methods IMO that if utilized could bring about a better, or more positive outcome.

You know I under stand AH has brought this on himself but to have him playing in the 4th qtr of this game was pretty stupid. AH at 3/4 speed is better then 90% in the NFL and it almost seems that Sh. was trying to embarrass him. He also said that AH might not play against Dallas and might not even be on the roster for the game.

Ok. Mike Shanahan never said AH was going to miss the opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

JLC stated he spoke to "someone" in the organization that said that AH might not play week one.

Now I have stated this in another thread, and to be honest I do not know why anyone would believe that our best Dlineman will miss our biggest home game of the year. And Coach Mike's Redskins debut.

Coach wants to win this game as he does the other 15 regualr season games. There is NOW WAY (unless he loses a limb between now and then) AH is not lining up at RE to start the Sunday Night game against Dallas. Especially now that he went out and played the enitrely most meaningless game of the year from start to finish.

AH, DM will both start come the 12th of September and will dominate.

Heard it hear first, don't believe anything you read or hear. These two stars will be there against the Girls.

I don't know, I think if a player plays best angry, than infuriating him, and pointing him at the opposite team would be a good idea.

On the other hand Shanahan hasn't had a lot of success converting an infuriated player into a valued team player, so maybe AH just has to be written off. Only time will tell

So Haynesworth won't be in game shape for another 9 years? :-D

Certainly Shanahan knows by now AH is a disgruntled, malcontent. A nonconformist who hasn't been willing on his own, to buy-in [so to speak] and become a team player for the betterment of everyone concerned.

Now, the number one question on Shanahan's mind should be: How do I go about properly inspiring a player with unlimited potential to perform to that potential. There's nothing wrong with a coach taking a softer stand sometime if in so doing he can achieve his desired result. There are different ways to motivate and inspire [depending on the individual] the wise and successful coaches know what buttons to push and when to push them to accompish their intended goals. This fire could have been extinguished long ago.

Let me say that what I saw of AH in the 3rd and 4th quarter did not look anywhere near 90% better then anyone in the NFL. On one play I saw the offense line up and AH standing straight up hands on hips huffing and puffing. When he finally got in his stance he looked awkward. Then the ball was snapped and all he did was stand up, put his hands on the Center, and tried to bully push him back which didn't work. The guy took one step back and held his ground. AH gave up at that point.

Clearly AH was tired but he definitly was not using his technique due to being tired. Now if the team can frequently change Kemo and AH out so they stay fresh is the best idea I have at this point. Otherwise any long drives by a good offense will have AH taking plays off.

Man if you think for a second that there is a better Dlinemn on our squad please tell me who he is?

BTW he was not getting pushed around last night, he was focusing on staying at the LOS and controlling his gap. That was his duty last night, don't penetrate but hold your man at the point of attack.

Albert was a little bit of everything last night. Sometimes, the monster was unleashed and he mauled people(Faneca) -- he probably got the green light to rush the passer.

Other times, he play disciplined, as he should be, see the play where Skelton wanted to scramble, but he did not overcommit to one gap.

And for other times not included in the other other times, he stank it up and got pushed back. I know for sure he was pushed back on two of the 49 plays, so one may have to worry about him being inconsistent.
