mlmpetert 09-01-2010, 12:00 PM Someone tell me why Marko's been cut by three teams in less than six months
Politics....
Now that Kelly is gone, it would be nice to see him come back if just to find him a spot on the practice squad.
SmootSmack 09-01-2010, 12:07 PM Flip a coin between Leinart and Anderson. They both aren't very good. At least DA has somewhat of a track record in this league and has enjoyed some success. Leinart can't even nail down a starting job.
I think the Cards are going with DA because he will at least let it rip and go down the field. Leinart is known as Mr. Check Down. Not the best use of your weapons when you have Fitz, Breaston, Doucet, etc.
Yeah I think that's pretty much it.
Skelton's time will come soon enough

If Skelton comes through this whole convo is a moot point.
Monkeydad 09-01-2010, 12:50 PM Did I say that?? Stats don't tell the whole story, both guys suck but if I had a choice Leinart is the less of two evils.
Yes...
I'm not denying they're both mediocre-to-bad QBs...but I believe DA is the better of the two, and it seems the Cards' coaching staff and stats seem to agree.
Leinart has had so many chances, and flopped on all of them. They're giving him a longer leash than we gave Ramsey or Campbell. It's time to just cut their losses and move on.
USC QBs don't have a good track record in the NFL. Of Mark Sanchez, Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Sean Salisbury, Rodney Peete, Pat Haden, Matt Cassel, Bill Nelsen, Pete Beathard, Vince Evans, Paul McDonald, Todd Marinovich, Rob Johnson and John David Booty, only Carson Palmer has really had any extended success.
Dirtbag59 09-01-2010, 02:28 PM Anderson has actually put up good numbers at one point in his career, with the Browns.
Leinart has been HORRIBLE in every chance he's gotten, with weapons like Fitz and Boldin...on a team where his replacement took the team to the Super Bowl.
No, Anderson didn't deserve that huge contract from Cleveland after one good year, but he was better than Brady Quinn (who isn't?) and he's better than Leinart too.
Anderson: 2007 - 3,787 yds, 29 TDs, 19 INTs, 3 rushing TDs, 82.5 rating
Career = 46 TDs, 45 INTs
Leinart's best year: 2006 - 2,547 tds, 11 TDs, 12 INTs, 2 rushing TDs, 74.0 rating
Career = 14 TDs, 20 INTs
Yeah, but we know Anderson's limits. And you have to remember in his best year, most of him numbers came in one game. Take away the Bengals game in 2007 and he has a QB rating of 79.
Leinart on the other hand knows the offense. He has 3 years of experience with it. On top of that he played well against the Saints in the playoffs last year after Warner went out. Further more he has had a solid preseason. Now either the Cardinals are putting way to much emphasis on preseason games, maybe even so much as game planning, or they just don't like Leinart.
All I know is that Leinart has at least shown enough to get the nod for the first quarter of the season. If things go stale then bring in Anderson, but until then see what you have in Leinart. I mean you need a game manager anyway, God knows he's capable of pulling that off.
You have to hate the way Leinart is dealing with being demoted too.

If I'm the Cardinals I'm probably more upset if he says yeah that's cool. At least he's getting angry about it, saying he wants to be the starter. That's what you want to hear from your young QB

He can be angry about it, but there's a right way to handle it too though. Sure he wants to be the starter, but he hasn't earned it. He doesn't seem to see that.

"Yeah, film study was kind of cutting into my party time. So when they like told me that DA was gonna be the starter I was like 'yeah wicked bro.' I could use a trip to Cancun. Then I realized I was kind of banned from Cancun, so that was kind of a bummer. But hey there's always the Caribbean, nope banned from there to. Something about harboring a felon, an endangered species of fish, and a stick of dynamite by the coral reefs."

Carson Palmer is not a bad QB. Injuries are what has derailed him that past few years.
