Yeah, very entertaining.
The reason is Beck makes them $$$. The more extreme the rhetoric, the better the ratings, and Becks were sky high. I would watch a couple times a month just to see what that jackass would say next. Fox was sick of his stuff, and he was losing his primary viewers, the 50+ crowd, in the end they will say its was mutualActually therein lies Beck's problem, you can only go too far "out there" and there will be a backlash. Advertisers dropping, ratings dropping = Bye, bye Beck show. His schtick got old pretty quick.
This is pretty funny though:

Noooooooooooooooooooooo
I don't know what to think of all this yet. Ill say that I've cut back on watching his show a lotand have only watched a handful of times this year. I feel like after christmas or so he reinvented his show and rolled out his wwhole e4 thing. He does change the tone and feeling of his show it seems about every 6 months or so and this particular style didn't really resonant with me, and im guessing others. I guess I would describe his most recent style more opinionated and less just reporting facts while alluding to the obvious conclusions.
It could also be about his health, maybe his eye sight is getting worse then he's letting on?
Im also wondering if he's trying to get more into the production behind the scene business. Maybe roll out a group of simular opinion news shows?
Should be interesting in what happens within the next year. 2012 is coming up and the demand for a commentator with his views is gonna be high during election season. He was only on fox news for a couple years and instantly became one of the most polarizing commentators out there. There's a lot of people who feel the way he does and you're gonna need to fill the void somehow. I can promise that there will be no one else that can draw the amount of viewers or add revenue, even with limited advertisers, on any news network during the 5 o'clock slot for years to come.
No surprise the guy is a joke. People can only take so much crazy. Maybe he'll go back to being a radio zookeeper.

Everybody thought Beck was crazy when he predicted the economic collapse in 2007 too. That definitely never happened or anything.

Well, if you predict doom and gloom all the time, you're going to be right sooner or later.

Id say bring back Crossfire on CNN...Beck and Olbermann, Crazy vs Crazy. Talk about soap opera, they make Sheen look mentally stable

Beck isn't crazy, he just says crazy things that get him paid. His demise at Fox was sealed once he thought he was bigger than the network.

I kind of agree with this. He has a peace and love im just gonna do what i think is the right thing even if people dont take notice type attitude. But i think in realality he has a ego, hes just hiding it. He said how grateful he was that he was given the 5 oclock time slot by Fox 2 years ago when he broke the news that he was leaving. But i think thats the the problem, he wanted a better time slot and Fox wasnt willing to give it to him.
Ive said this before; Beck is really easy to pick on. Unless you follow him he is easy to take out of context and twist what he is saying or take away from the point hes trying to make. People talked shit about Olberman all the time. I talked shit about him. But I made sure I watched his show every so often to make sure I would reinforce (or potential change) my opinion of him. If Olberman came on at 5 I would never watch it and would act a lot like people do with Beck; hes crazy, he lies, hes a nut, I know so because ive seen his show once I keep watching clips that reinforce that perception on Stewart and Colbert and MSNBC. I guess my point is that I wouldnt be surprised if Beck wanted to have a prime time show to reach more viewers and to make it easier for people to reinforce (or potential change) their opinion of him, for themselves. Fox wasnt willing to give it to him, because I think at this point the anti-Beck camp is too strong. Beck in my opinion is less “far right” then Hannity or O’Riely, but hes a very charismatic guy, acts goofy, not formally educated and is a lot easier to pick on and discredit.

Cable news is a better place without idiots like him and Olberman on the air.

On the Daily Show last night Jon Stewart did an insightful and hilarious dismantling of Beck. If you like Jon Stewart, check it out.
