Regarding Kelly's IR...I've gone back and forward over this, but I don't think Devin Thomas is going to make the team. Brandon Banks gets that spot, at least temporarily. Kelly kept (stupidly, I might add) pushing himself to get back out on the practice field when he simply couldn't go, so the ability to IR Kelly and tell the kid to not get worked up over preparing week to week this season and to just be healthy for OTA's, that could save his career in Washington.

Or not. He might just get hurt again and waste everyones time.

I think that he'll make the team, Thomas that is.

Seems like only yesterday many of us were ready to push Moss, Portis, and Rogers aside and move on without them...and now they're back to being integral parts of the team

It sure looks that way and if Moss can carry this over to the regular season he should have a very good year. I still think JC was a bigger part of the problem then people think. I'm guessing they have seen something in Kelly to keep him here. So I guess that kind of good news.

Banks wouldn't make it "over" Thomas. Thomas would be cut to free up the roster spot, then they'd probably play the waiver wire. Banks, if he's not the starting punt returner, probably gets passed through to practice squad after dodging a round of waiver pickups.

LaCanfora mentioned Andre Davis as a guy Kyle Shanahan might be into in order to shore up this gaping hole on our roster.

Yeah I read that from JLC.. if they pick Davis over Thomas I really don't know what to say...

Thomas is our biggest WR, most physical, and he returns kicks.

I just don't see him getting the axe.

Given the team's patience with Kelly, I would really be surprised to see Thomas get dropped.

Devin Thomas is terrible at returning kicks. Why do people think he is in line for that job?

I do think his blocking on the punt return team is what stands out most favorably.

Kelly, I think, would have been a very easy cut -- it's not like he has a great shot to make the team next year. But if Shanny already knows Thomas is gone, it makes more sense to not dump Kelly at the same time.

With that said, every spot is open after Moss and Armstrong. Still skeptical that Galloway or Wade or Roydell Williams have a chance to make it, but this team does have more invested in both Banks and Austin than Thomas. I think that's a really bad sign for Thomas, especially now that we know Kelly is going to open next offseason with the team.

Is that from this year? Do the vets STILL make MK carry their helmets?

the other helmet is for his knee

Terrible? I'd say average

Because he's been listed on the depth chart as the main KR since camp opened. He's certainly in the mix.

Among worst? Ouch...your WRs are as good as the QB throwing to them. Those beautiful on point bullets that McNabb throws are going to make them look good....real good.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic here or not. Assuming you're not... point on bullets from McNabb? He's notorious for throwing at receivers' feet. Or behind them. However, McNabb has had good seasons with guys like Reggie Brown, Todd Pinkston, and Freddie Mitchell. But that was also with Brian Westbrook in his prime. Yes, I think right now on paper we've got one of the worst receiving corps in the league. How many teams in the league would have Santana Moss as their #1? Ick.

I am not being sarcastic at all...McNabb can throw the deep ball, the out route, fade, the hook, the slat, etc. No more waiting on the QB to throw the damn ball as soon as the WR makes a cut. Sure, he's no Payton Manning but he's better than 90% of the QBs in the league...and the fact that he threw 70% and he had such shitty receivers gives me hope that him and our receivers are going to have a magical year. We'll know soon enough.
