You just don't cut a 2nd rounder like most people wanted. It was a bad a investment drafting an injury prone player, it is a double bad investment cutting him.
Update: Malcolm Kelly To Be Placed On IRSFREDSKIN 08-31-2010, 02:43 PM You just don't cut a 2nd rounder like most people wanted. GTripp0012 08-31-2010, 02:44 PM Regarding Kelly's IR...I've gone back and forward over this, but I don't think Devin Thomas is going to make the team. Brandon Banks gets that spot, at least temporarily. Kelly kept (stupidly, I might add) pushing himself to get back out on the practice field when he simply couldn't go, so the ability to IR Kelly and tell the kid to not get worked up over preparing week to week this season and to just be healthy for OTA's, that could save his career in Washington. Or not. He might just get hurt again and waste everyones time. Paintrain 08-31-2010, 02:46 PM Sucks for Kelly but it's a smart move for the team and at this point it makes the WR picture much clearer.. Moss, Galloway, Armstrong, Thomas, Austin are probably locks with the 6th spot coming down to Banks or Williams. Williams probably makes it over Banks because of his size and Banks can be a practice squad player. Thomas is far to valuable (and proven) on special teams on coverage and return units plus he's done nothing in the preseason to warrant being cut. Banks has a muff, a fumble and a TD and adds nothing on coverage units. Don't forget also that he will be the backup PR, Buchanon will be the starter when the season starts. You don't keep 5-6, 155 one dimensional rookies over 3rd year players coming into their own. Thomas would be cut to free up the roster spot, then they'd probably play the waiver wire. Banks, if he's not the starting punt returner, probably gets passed through to practice squad after dodging a round of waiver pickups. LaCanfora mentioned Andre Davis as a guy Kyle Shanahan might be into in order to shore up this gaping hole on our roster. CrustyRedskin 08-31-2010, 02:57 PM WOuld somebody please post the total stat for that whole draft class: Thomas, Kelly, and Davis. And lets just take a look and see how much production the skins have gotten from that draft???????????????? Paintrain 08-31-2010, 03:01 PM Banks wouldn't make it "over" Thomas. If Thomas isn't here and Banks is that means to me he made it 'over' him. Bobby Wade says we can both kiss his ass for not mentioning him on either list. I'd expect us to bring in a WR who gets cut, either Davis or Clayton from TB. That won't happen until the Saturday cuts though I would assume. CRedskinsRule 08-31-2010, 03:03 PM # Rich Campbell Shanahan was asked what he thought of Kelly coming out of college in 2008. He said DEN wasn't looking for a WR so he didn't study him [MORE] ...but Denver drafted WR Eddie Royal nine spots before Washington drafted Kelly. To me, that speaks volumes. 5 minutes ago via TweetDeck That is interesting * Reply * Retweet |
