Mcnabb to miss Dallas game????MTK 08-30-2010, 02:48 PM Redskins Insider - Donovan McNabb: The progression of an injury (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/donovan-mcnabb/donovan-mcnabb-the-progression.html) Monkeydad 08-30-2010, 02:59 PM Redskins Insider - Donovan McNabb: The progression of an injury (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/donovan-mcnabb/donovan-mcnabb-the-progression.html) From the article: McNabb's condition wasn't alarming. It wasn't immediately clear on which play he sprained the ankle, and indeed, because he remained in the game, most of us watching from the press box were unaware he was even hurt until he emerged from the locker room with his left ankle heavily wrapped. Completely wrong, he was limping all over the field and sideline in the2nd quarter. It was quite obvious he did something. He took some huge hits in that game. The Goat 08-30-2010, 05:47 PM Do agree with Canuck that if McNabb (for whatever reason) doesn't play vs. Dallas, it's more coaches' decision than injury decision. But again, don't think theres much chance he's not under center for that first snap. My thoughts exactly upon hearing of Shanny's comments. If McNabb cannot practice and get up to speed in the offense, plus has a gimpy ankle, it's probably the smart move to sit him for the opener. While I don't trust Rex w/ a season, if we assume the above circumstances are basically accurate, Rex is probably the better option. He's been in Kyle's offense for a year AND if McNabb truly can't practice leading up to the open then Rex would obviously have begun to est rapport w/ the 1st team O. I guess I don't see any reason to put a gimpy QB out there if he's struggling w/ the scheme. artmonkforhallofamein07 08-30-2010, 07:29 PM No way guys, I understand that there is some Devils Advocate stuff coming from you guys, but really think about what you said. D Mac regardless of how much of the offense he doesn't quite get yet is by far and away the best QB on this roster, period. Also like Matty said how in the hell will he learn watching the biggest game of the year as a Skins fan? This is the Cowboys guys, our new franchise QB will play if healthy and by what we are all hearing he will. This guy will play and I believe you guys are going a little to "Conspiracy Theory" here. What happened to Mike putting the best players on the field crap. Does anyone on this site actually believe that Rex is a better player than Donovan? What are you all smoking? Now I know pot is legal up there in parts of Canada Canuck, but that is a crazy statement. I also appreciate all that you do here, but be a little logical here. :) CrazyCanuck 08-31-2010, 11:26 AM What are you all smoking? Don't worry it's the good stuff. :cool-smil Wasn't taking a shot at McNabb, just putting all possibilities out there. For all you kids out there, you can't always believe what you hear in the media. That's why I never read any of Smootsmack's posts. :spam::D Dirtbag59 08-31-2010, 12:04 PM McNabb played with a sports hernia. The chances of him missing this game due to a lightly tender ankle seems pretty slim. Longtimefan 08-31-2010, 12:53 PM Translation - McNabb still can't figure out the offense. I don't want to embarass our prize acquisition on national TV against our hated rivals. When he catches up he'll be back on the field. There seems to be several issues surrounding McNabb that has captured the attention of many Redskin fans. I wouldn't necessarily characterize them as worry as much as I would concern. It has been reported he's been slow in picking up the offense, something that should not be a problem for a QB deemed "franchise", looking for an extention and paid accordingly. There are those who have made light of his latest injury, optomism begs us to believe he'll be ready to go on Sept.12th against Dallas. On the other hand, there are those who continue to look at his body of injury, seventeen games missed in the last five years due to some form of injury. At soon to be 34 yrs. of age, is injury a concern that's going to constantly be on the horizon? If so, should a longer look be given to a 3-4 yr. extention and at what cost? Given the compensation surrendered for his services, what exactly do/should we expect him to accomplish in a Redskin uniform that would enable the end to justify the means? Or, will injury continue to be a source of derailment, diminishing his ability to be effective for any extended period of time? These, and other questions IMO need to be both considered and answered before any final decision is made on securing his services longtime. irish 08-31-2010, 01:49 PM There seems to be several issues surrounding McNabb that has captured the attention of many Redskin fans. Elway was older when Shanny took him to the top and Steve Young was about the same age when he was winning big. The age in and of itself isnt that big a deal. I do think that he does have a history of injuries that could become more problematic as he gets older. I have mixed feelings on an extension because he is older with a history of injuries and they could be extending a player that wont play much. On the other hand I dont see that the Skins have any other viable options at QB and DM is a great leader that has set a new tone at Redskins Park. IMO, its a tough call when it comes to extending DM. tryfuhl 08-31-2010, 05:13 PM Russellmania09 McNabb after practice was walking w/teammates up hill towards building on a chewed up part of grass, and was dancing & having fun w/mates. Paintrain 08-31-2010, 05:16 PM Wake me if McNabb isn't practicing next Monday.. Until then, blah.. |
