Jackson can also practice with Redskins for the remaining weeks of his suspension,to learn the Offense and be ready for that packers game.
As I understand it, even if Jackson is traded, he can't practice or be at the facility of any team until after the 4th game.

That is part of why I don't see Minnesota getting him. Sidney Rice can come off the PUP at week six (if he is physically able to), so you only get VJ 1 week earlier, that's a lot to pay for a couple of weeks without Rice.

I'm not cutting on you but some people have weird trade thoughts. I would presume the Skins would be trying to hook up with a team that runs the 4-3 and needs a DT in order to make AH happy and his new team. Thats if Tenn bails on us. Why would we send AH to any other team running a 3-4 knowing AH will not be happy and will stir the pot, and why would any team running the 3-4 like us want to pick him up knowing AH does not want to play in it?

I was told that Big Ben cannot practice with the team,but V.Jackson is able to practice with the team because of the type of suspension...

And the reason he's not practicing now,is because he's holding out for a new contract.

I was under that impression too. I thought the no practice was exclusive to ben as well

Still, the Haslet schme seems like the best one to give Haynesworth a chance to rush upfield and shoot gaps.

AND is it not rewarding to see BIG making such......large strides with it?

If Jackson is traded before Wednesday, he'll be allowed to report to the new club and, at the team's discretion, be eligible to participate in activities permitted by the substance abuse policy for the remainder of his suspension. When the DUI suspension ends, he'll be permitted to practice with his new team under the roster exempt rules before the fourth game, but will be unavailable to play and cannot be paid until the fifth game.

So it's a bit of a mix, but basically he can't practice until after the 3rd week, which would give him two weeks of on field practice with DMcNabb or where ever he goes.

All the NFL did was shorten his time to get on the field by one game. We pick him up hand him a play book, and have a position coach go over to his house after hours and coach him up via film. After week 3 he can show up and practice with the team so he can learn it but he's still not elligible to play for 2 weeks the whole time learning the offense and after game 5 he could hit the ground running.

Yes it does. If someone was going to get Jackson caught up it would have to be a player. The purpose of a suspension under the leagues personal conduct policy is to isolate a player from the team. Thats why they're not allowed to practice nor show up to the teams facilities while they're suspended. From what I understand, they can still stay in contact with their teammates and team doctors, but coaches are not allowed to talk to players serving suspensions.

Consider this, the Jets are currently being investigated because Rex Ryan visited Sanchez at an unofficial practice organized by Sanchez. The practice itself was legal but the coach being there was not. The NFL is very strict when it comes to matters like this.

Edit; Never mind. The terms of the suspension depends on the player and the nature of the crime. Santonio Holmes for example is simply banned from practice and regular season games. However he may participate in everything else. Ben Rothelisberger on the other hand is banned from the team facility.

Holmes is allowed to work out at the Jets' training complex and can attend team meetings, but isn't allowed to participate in practice sessions.

Jets coach Rex Ryan had said that Holmes wasn't allowed to have contact with coaches and was of the belief that Holmes would have to use Skype to talk with quarterback Mark Sanchez.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the New York Post that's not the case, though, for players serving under a year's suspension for violating the league's drug policy.

However, players who violate the steroid policy or the personal conduct policy such as the Pittsburgh Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger aren't allowed to go to the team facility or have contact with the team during their suspensions.

After reading this it looks like Vincent Jackson is in the same boat as Big Ben.

I think what everyone is failing to see is that I'm sure we are interested in V.Jackson, however, I am confident the Chargers are overpricing him. He doesn't appear to want to ever play for San Diego again, nor do they want to sign him...so why would teams pay top dollar for a guy that will be released eventually? If San Diego really thinks he's that valuable, they should sign him.
