Huge difference. I'm actually in 3 leagues this year. Each league has a different style. Two of them are 10 team leagues one of which has a ridiculous scoring system (not uncommon for players to put up 70 points in any given week). The other 10 team league is a PPR league. The 6 team league, well let's just say I wanted a league where I didn't have to scrape the bottom of the barrel. what is the fun in a 6 team league? everyone has a ton of sick players. where is the strategy in trying to decide between starting roddy white and miles austin? "scraping the bottom of the barrel" is the whole point of fantasy football, getting the guys that are great before they prove it. if anything, i go for larger leagues, ones in which everyone has to know their stuff to survive. i mean like 14+ leagues. thats where the waiver wire and trades really matter. MTK 09-09-2010, 07:50 AM I'm not a big fan of small leagues, or leagues with crazy scoring. A league I'm in with guys from work is totally ridiculous. You start 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 2 flex spots, 1 kicker, 1 team D, and two IDP. And on top of that you have an 8 player bench. Needless to say the draft took forever. johno 09-09-2010, 08:36 AM I'm not a big fan of small leagues, or leagues with crazy scoring. A league I'm in with guys from work is totally ridiculous. IDP might be my favorite position to draft. depending on the scoring system, i almost always try to get our own london fletcher. MTK 09-09-2010, 08:42 AM Funny, I did grab Fletcher. He racks up a ton of tackles. jdlea 09-09-2010, 08:47 AM So, I'm struggling with who to start, we have a flex WR/RB position and my 4 backs are: Jones-Drew, Jamaal Charles, Jerome Harrison and Clinton Portis. Right now, Portis is on the bench, but I feel odd about it. I'm not certain how he'll be used. I feel like he was the only effective back, so I'd love to play him, but I just think the other 3 will have better days. I really feel like the only guy who could be discussed is Harrison, but Hillis is the backup there, I think he'll get the lion's share of the carries...aaaahhhh Any advice? EDIT: So, NFL.com has Harrison as a "Start Em" and Portis on the "Sit Em" list, so I guess I'm sticking with it. BigHairedAristocrat 09-09-2010, 09:10 AM Who are your WRs? Thats a very weak RB corp in my opinion. jdlea 09-09-2010, 09:20 AM Who are your WRs? Thats a very weak RB corp in my opinion. Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of my team this year. I have Calvin Johnson, Percy Harvin, and Mike Wallace as my only real options at WR BigHairedAristocrat 09-09-2010, 09:47 AM i'd pick up tampa bay's mike williams if he's available in your league, and start him, johnson, and harvin. jdlea 09-09-2010, 09:48 AM i'd pick up tampa bay's mike williams if he's available in your league, and start him, johnson, and harvin. He actually went pretty early in our draft. I don't know...I'm really over fantasy football at this point. It really takes away from the game for me. |
