i went over to a vikings message board and they are planning a mass fan trip to where ever the hell favre resides in missisippi.

Favre lives on the west side of Hattiesburg, MS, the most progressive town in the state by all accounts. Tell 'em to check out The Thirsty Hippo if they need a watering hole.

Looks like I'll be running into Vikes fans.

Brad Childress is saying (http://www.examiner.com/x-1723-Minnesota-Vikings-Examiner~y2010m8d3-Childress-on-Favres-decisionits-a-very-fluid-situation) that Favre never informed him that he is retiring.

Technicallity. Probably something along the lines of Farve telling him that he's leaning towards retirement while not flat out saying it. Still when ESPN post something like this on the front page it usually means that they have good reason to believe it's true. A more recent example would be announcing that Lebron was going to Miami the night before The Decision.

I'll believe it week one when Favre isn't suited up!

Report: Family source says Favre has made no decision
Posted by Mike Florio on August 3, 2010 4:45 PM ET
No development regarding the career of Brett Favre is official until the official Favre family scrivener, Al Jones of the Biloxi Sun-Herald, chimes in.

Jones reports, citing an unnamed family source, that no decision has been made by Favre regarding whether he'll retire for the third annual year.

"Brett has not made a commitment to play or a decision to return at this point," the source said.

So what in the hell is going on here?

Since Favre himself has remained silent, and since we believe the reports that he has advised team officials and teammates that he's retiring, this whole thing could be a power play aimed at getting more money for Favre or, more likely, getting the team off his ass about showing up for the third preseason game.

Indeed, we've got a feeling that the organization had been pressuring him to show up for the preseason home opener, and that Favre finally decided to make it known that he simply won't show up at all. By never acknowledging it himself, he'll never look like he was lying.

And so the end result will be more money for Favre and the ability to show up on the Friday before the first game, giving him six days to prepare to face the Saints on September 9.

Favre: Hey Chilly, I'm retiring
Childress: What? You want a 3 week vacation to skip half the preseason? That's cool by me.
Favre: No, no, I'm actually retiring this time.
Childress: Aiight Brett, see ya in a few weeks. Looking forward to you coming back man.
Favre: I'm submitting papers to the NFL tomorrow.
Childress: I heard you already. Now hurry up and enjoy your vacation because I expect you to be ready when you get back. SB or bust this year baby!

On a side note, the coveted award for leading the league in boyishness and pure fun will be a wide open race this year, for the first time in almost two decades.

So who's gonna watch his eventual retirement press conference? I hear it's gonna go on for about 10 hours, after which he will say he is leaving the media room, only to come back 10 minutes later to talk about how he can't just walk away like that, and that process will repeat itself every hour until about 19 hours have gone by and he's forced to leave because his ass is broken from sitting down too long while trying to keep his longest press conference record streak alive.

I don't think Favre's retiring, but let me pose this questions if Minni called and said Skins we will give you are next (3) 1st round picks for DMc would you do it make the trade. I say NO but what do you say.

Very tempting, but those picks be would at the bottom of round one, almost second round picks. So they would to throw in something else.

Hell no. McNabb is playing for us for the next five years. If McNabb goes to Minnesota then those 1st round picks might as well be early second round picks.
