Gmanc711 07-29-2010, 09:33 AM Right????
Also as pft points out MK has missed 11 games in his frist 2 seasons, but i think some of the games he has missed has been because he just wasnt up to speed on things and he cant be used in special teams. Not all related directly to injury. When i first saw this thread i was thinking his knees, which is a huge relief. Hopefully the micro fractor surgery is going to work for him. Either way lets that hammy is good to go asap.
I agree. Kelly is the guy I really wanted to see step up, just because he's a huge target over the middle... I hope this is just a small blip and he gets going and gets on track..
I mean I dont know a ton about the everyday stuff and looking at his route running and what he did wrong last year to see the bench...but I felt like they never used him right. He's a huge dude, throw a couple fades, short 7 yard crossing routes and stuff like that... maybe he's not capable of it, I have no idea. The one thing I'm really excited for with Shannahan, is that I think he'll use guys the right way and play to their strenghts. Thats somethign that Zorn never did and to be honest there were times with Gibbs wehre I thought the same thing.
mlmpetert 07-29-2010, 09:35 AM Here's a better source that says a little more than "Malcolm Kelly got hurt":
Redskins Insider - Malcolm Kelly injures hamstring at Donovan McNabb's 'Hell Week' (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/wide-receivers/malcolm-kelly-injures-hamstrin.html?wprss=redskinsinsider)
This is what pisses me off about Jason Reid:
"McNabb, as he did during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, invited some of his new teammates to his Phoenix-area home for a week of grueling workouts and team building. Wideouts Devin Thomas, Santana Moss and Kelly were among those expected to participate."
Hell week is over and you still cant find find out exactly who participated?

Maybe you are not reading it the way that he intended? The way that I read it is that "They had no choice but to show up" as opposed to "We believe that they were going to attend but we are not quite sure." They Know who was there.
Monkeydad 07-29-2010, 09:48 AM Yeah, I read it as "expected by McNabb to show up or else...", not "we think these are the guys who are coming".
KI Skins Fan 07-29-2010, 09:53 AM I'm half-expecting to see a headline that reads: "Malcolm Kelly Injured While Sleeping."
If he can stay healthy, he may become a real weapon for this team. I think he needed to lose the weight to increase his quickness and speed - primarily his quickness. Now, with the work he's done on his conditioning, I think he's better positioned to succeed.
When he was in college he effectively used his big body to shield the ball from defenders and he was able to jump over them, as well. I think he should be a solid possession receiver in the NFL.
We all should probably watch some old Ed McCaffrey highlights. That should tell us how Shanahan plans to use Kelly.

Did he really need to lose wieght? He looks pretty skinny here. :)
SmootSmack 07-29-2010, 10:08 AM more so than D.Thomas? I feel like DT had a distinct advantage coming out of last season, and this injury to MK just adds to it.
From what I had heard Kelly has been more impressive when both are on the field and the ball is being thrown to them. Kelly has some sick hands...unfortunately he's got sick legs too
SouperMeister 07-29-2010, 10:44 AM This is becoming a recurring pattern with Kelly. If he has problems getting on the field this year due to health reasons, it may be time to cut bait.
GMScud 07-29-2010, 10:51 AM Well, two days doesn't sound like anything major. Agree with mlmpetert, Jason Reid is fairly useless. Redskins Insider hasn't provided anything inside for a while now.

I have no problem with DT's hands. From what I've seen, he catches everything thrown to him.
DT is a phenomenal athlete. Before he was drafted, it was well-known that he didn't have a lot of college experience at WR and that it would take some time for him develop as a pro WR. That has proven to be the case; however, when he finally gets it, his superior speed and quickness should help him to earn a starting job, IMHO.
As long as Kelly can stay on the field, I have a lot of faith that DT and MK can both have solid careers. I'm among those who thought that it would take them both some time to arrive, for different reasons (health, in the case of MK). I also believe that their development was retarded by inadequate conditioning, a pathetic offense under Zorn, and poor coaching by Stan Hixon.
