Their first group looked terrible. 30gut 08-09-2010, 11:35 AM Still, you have to be wondering in the back of your head about the answer to the biggest question of all. Why did the Eagles do the unthinkable and dump him? I guess i would be worried if i thought that McNabb was done, which i suspect is what you believe. But, your question has been answered by the people that made the decision: "The crux of the decision, and I think everybody would describe it the same way," Banner said, "[was that] we have two quarterbacks who are very good, we think . . . capable of winning a Super Bowl - I understand that needs to be proven. Donovan didn't do it. Kevin hasn't even tried yet. But at that point, it really became [a question of] one of them has a chance to lead us for the next eight to 10 years . . . one, who knows? One year? Four years? But a considerably shorter time." "He wouldn't be under contract to us, so we probably would've had to franchise him to have market value." "It wasn't an easy decision, just a slam dunk, for me," Reid said. "You've got to evaluate age and you've got to evaluate what's left in the tank, who has the upside and who doesn't. You want to make sure you got maximum value for your football team because I'm not into giving good players away. I don't want to do that. "Brett Favre was the last big-time [quarterback] to go someplace, and Brett was a little bit older. Green Bay got a fourth-round pick for him, so if it was going to be Donovan McNabb, who I figured could probably pull the most for our organization, I wanted to make sure it was at least close to what he was worth." I've heard good reports about Moss, Williams, Galloway and Austin not to mention Cooley and Davis. do you really think it is going to all of a sudden be hunky dory come Sept 12 unless the other guys step it up? Now it seems you kinda switched the convo from being about McNabb to being about the receiving corps. And yes i think its going to be fine because i don't think anything is wrong. Its training camp in a new scheme with some new receivers and with a new QB there are gonna be growing pains. Again, i'm not going to follow the word of 1 sports media dude. If it is August 20 and media guys or fellow posters covering camp practice report the same things then you should worry. Nope still won't be worried. We're talking about Donovan McNabb dude not a journeyman or a rookie. You're not going to erase his history because of a couple bad practices. If we have preseason game performances ala the Zorn era worry like crazy Nope not even then. skinsfan69 08-09-2010, 12:43 PM Still stinking the place up... Duds QB Donovan McNabb. He still could be adjusting to the offense. He could be bothered by the fact that he really only has one proven receiver. Or he could just be having a bad camp. It’s only 10 days into camp so it’s not time to panic. However, McNabb had another bad day Saturday. He’s waiting too long after the receiver cuts to make the pass, a sign that he perhaps does not yet trust them. Receivers who have broken free on crossing patterns often have to reach back inside to make a catch. His passes have allowed beaten defenders to recover. At what point do you get concerned? If he has a bad preseason, too. Even w/ DM does anyone really think that this offense is going to average 24 to 28 points? I don't. backrow 08-09-2010, 02:29 PM I don't think we will score 28 ppg. But I do wonder about our depth chart. Do only the 1st through 3rd teamers stay at the cut? So far, So fail KLHJ2 08-09-2010, 02:43 PM Just like AH is our backup nosetackle (like that's gonna happen). Don't get your panties all in a bunch over an unofficial depth chart during the preseason. The 2nd and 3rd stringers get more reps in the preseason so look at it as addition work. tryfuhl 08-09-2010, 02:44 PM I don't think we will score 28 ppg. But I do wonder about our depth chart. Depth Chart - Washington Redskins (http://www.redskins.com/gen/team/depthChart.jsp) came here to post this.. not necessarily though.. still in wait and see mode Monksdown 08-09-2010, 02:51 PM Thomas and Kelly both on the 3rd team. So far, So fail They are just making the young bucks work for it. Plus Galloway was actually participating in 100% of the offseason crap. Defensewins 08-09-2010, 03:06 PM Just like AH is our backup nosetackle (like that's gonna happen). Don't get your panties all in a bunch over an unofficial depth chart during the preseason. The 2nd and 3rd stringers get more reps in the preseason so look at it as addition work. Ah is a former All-Pro and is a proven NFL commodity. Thomas and Kelly are unproven players fighting to make the final roster, much less be a starter. Thomas and Kelly are third string because of their inability to stay on the field (healthy) and their inconstant play on the field. Not because they are trying to get them more playing time. It is refreshing that Shanahan is going to make them earn their roster spot. Unlike Cerrato's old style of reserving spots for under performing high draft picks. Our roster will be better top to bottom under Shanahan and Allen. At this point I don't really care if Thomas and Kelly make it or not. It is time to move on if they are not going to be consistent producers on the regular season playing field. |
