Schneed10 07-26-2010, 05:53 PM if tony romo told him to do it then he should do it. but roy williams?????
That's exactly my thing. Roy should have shut his mouth and known his place on the team - which is a tenuous place at best.
Coming from Romo, or Felix Jones, or Jason Witten, this would have been totally acceptable.
But wouldn't it be pretty ridiculous for Stephon Heyer to make Trent Williams carry his pads? I don't care if he's a rookie or not, if you don't have the standing on the team, then don't make him carry your shit.
skinsfan69 07-26-2010, 06:33 PM Lol. I knew, as soon as I read this story online, that there would be a dedicated thread surrounding this.
I get a chuckle when I read posts about “Trouble in Cowgirl camp” about this. Trouble? Really? If this is a deep as the media has to dig to find something controversial to write about the entire Cowboys off season, then I surely welcome it. Bring it on.
So he refused to carry a vets pads. Where are the comments about Dez Bryant being the first player on the field for practice? A full 45 minutes before anyone else hit the field? Wheres the comments that Bryant was at the Alamodome ready for that first practice 2 hours before anyone else was there?
Where’s the comments that he was the first player that was selected in the, 1st round to sign?
How about when a reporter commented on how well this young man presented himself, the reporter commented on how he counted Bryant responding with “Yes SIR” 6 times in a five minute interview?
But when he refuses to carry shoulder pads for a vet WR whose only claim to fame is that he couldn’t catch water if he fell out of a friggin boat, THAT’S CONTREVERSY!?
Like I said, bring it on.
actually NFL N and ESPN both reported that he was the 1st one there and the last one to leave.

You know, if I was a college dropout who was suspended for a year for some misdemeanor (no matter how slight or overblown it may be) and was getting paid millions of dollars to play a game, I would be on my best behavior too.

if you're looking for any one of us to praise a cowboy... you're in the wrong place.

And with a rep for showing up late...he may have been early on day one, but let's see if it lasts...
Longtimefan 07-26-2010, 10:57 PM He's a rook, he needs to know his place. He's not going to make many friends with that type of attitude.
LaVar talked about him at great length today on 106 the fan. They all came to virtually the same conclusion.
mooby 07-26-2010, 11:11 PM The real story will be when Roy Williams whips out his dirty old jock strap after practice one day and tells Dez to carry it and Dez slugs him in the mouth and beats his ass, and then all the vets turn on Dez for not following the hazing tradition, thus alienating him from the rest of the squad before training camp is even over.
artmonkforhallofamein07 07-27-2010, 12:07 AM Naw he is Jerry's newest toy, he will protect him. :)
I really think it will not add up to much of anything, other than a bunch of message board chatter......
wilsowilso 07-27-2010, 01:09 AM After two days of following this, I have decided that I think this is just awesome!
It forces the veteran leaders on the Cowboys to address it. Period!
Management will just want it to go away, but those bitches have to address it.
The revelation is going to be that the veteran leaders on the Cowboys are..... deep down..... a bunch of Mega Vaginas.
Monkeydad 07-27-2010, 02:51 PM if tony romo told him to do it then he should do it. but roy williams?????
Talent has nothing to do with it. Williams had to carry some failed Lions WRs' pads when he was a rookie and so should Bryant. It's about seniority, vets vs. rookies...Dez is going to bring something more severe on himself and I'll laugh the whole time. I hope he gets hung from a goalpost and gets footballs chucked at him. Then the team takes him out to dinner and leaves him with the bill for 50 guys.
That's life as a rookie. Even Orakpo went through it.
Bryant is looking like an already-spoiled, arrogant diva WR. He's representing the #88 well.
