If you had to choose between K. Williams and R. Torain, which would it be?
I say even at this point. Ask me after the Ravens if both get significant time. Right now though if you want an answer Williams just based on his better ypc in last night's game.

If he was smart, he sign with the 49ers were he would get lots of playing time as the #2 back.

At this point I really don't see a need to sign him here either. We have a good mix of backs already on the team and bringing him in just makes the rb log jam even tighter.
I agree with you FRedskin, he should go to the 9ers. There is greater chance for him to have success there then in St Louis.
I was into to bringin Westbrook here in the early parts of summer and even into the begining of training camp, but now he would just take away from some youth we have here.

I don't want to sign him simply because I don't want to feel obligated to keep his brother.

No worries dirt....the only time you have any obligations is when you are writing checks, to players that is. And I don't think that is your department.
I think Coach is gonna keep the best 53 that gives us the very best chance of winning no matter what your name plate says or how much you make, not who your brother is.

Redskins remain interested in Brian Westbrook
The Redskins have been through their first preseason game and got a good look at young running backs Ryan Torain and Keiland Williams. But Coach Mike Shanahan said after Sunday's practice that the club remains interested in veteran free agent Brian Westbrook.
"Like I told you, I'm not sure what direction he's going," Shanahan said. "But we've been entertaining that option. I'm not sure what direction he's going at this time."
Shanahan said there is no timetable for action. ESPN's John Clayton suggested late last week that Westbrook was likely headed to St. Louis by Monday, a claim the Rams denied. St. Louis, though, is one team that has remained interested in pursuing the former Philadelphia Eagle throughout his free agency. Denver, another potential suitor because of a backfield decimated by injuries, last week signed veteran Justin Fargas.
The Redskins rushed for 140 yards on 41 carries in Friday night's 42-17 preseason victory over Buffalo. Torain (17 carries, 62 yards) and Williams (11 carries, 51 yards, two touchdowns) got the bulk of the work. Veteran Larry Johnson is scheduled to get his chance this Saturday against Baltimore, with fellow veteran free agent signee Willie Parker playing more the following week against the New York Jets.

I just don't know why we would want Westbrook at this point. Torain and Williams seem perfectly capable and would give us the opportunity to get younger at the position while gaining valuable experience.
The only way I could see signing him would be if one of the other veterans craps out.

It's possible that it is just a plot to make everyone work harder and stay on edge. If Shannahan makes everyone believe that he is still interested in Westbrook then they don't feel safe.
Honestly the only thing to gain with Westbrook is a 3rd down back but I'm sure that the other guys (Torrain and Williams) are pretty capable. I do not see Willie Parker making to the 53 man roster. Hell, he might be gone before then.
