Millen was a great NFL player and at one point many thought him the heir apparent to Madden as the pre-eminent color commentator. He's a really sharp NFL mind...which is why his tenure in Detroit is such a head-scratcher
Not really. Being a great player doesn't mean you know how to draft and build a franchise. He was a great commentator, but there your experience as a player is more directly related to what you do. Building a winning team means being able to manage personnel, money, and be good at politics at the same time. Millen's name was pushed around a couple years before he took the Lions job and I thought those folks were morons at the time. I don't think Madden could have pulled it off(making the Lions winners), and he was a HOF coach. Millen was the GM equivalent of Zorny as HC, totally in over his head.

Maybe they're doing the right thing for once...cleaning up after the Matt Millen disaster-filled-era.
The sad part is they beat the Skins.

I will back you up Bro. It did mean nothing, excpet for utter failure, the loss of Zorn's job, and the Vinny stepping the f down as head idiot. Looking back on it the loss to the lions set this whole ball of awesome rolling!!

That loud thuuuuud!!!!! after that loss was us hitting the bottom. I will never forget how sh*tty and embarrassed I felt after that game...the cell phone going off, the next day back at work...that was lowest ive been in 25 years of being a Skins fanatic....hopefully I will be able to reference that moment as the turning point in the SKins franchise where the Shanny/Allen era began and put us back on top

And I just had to be there. Had a lil too much to drink and ended up walking most of the way back up to 10 mile. I was in row 4 behind the Skins bench, not sure I ever posted the pics though my batts died shortly into the game.

We beat them 23 times in a row I believe...it was bound to happen eventually.
