I am no longer on board. I want my draft picks. This would leave us with about the same amount of picks we had last year. 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th. Really makes watching the NFL draft pretty lame.

I'll take a lame draft in exchange for an exciting passing game

I'll take a lame draft in exchange for an exciting passing gameI kind of think we shouldn't do the Jackson trade, just because we need the picks badly.

On the other hand, getting a competent receiver -- in VJ's case, a star -- is probably the move we need to take us from contenders to favorites in the NFC East. It would be consistent with all of our other trades this offseason, which means that if the plan is to win now, we shouldn't hold off on doing this trade.

With all of those sides presented, I'm not really sure what the plan is. The reason this trade hasn't happened yet is that the Redskins are still finding a way they can unload Haynesworth to soften the draft pick compensation on Jackson, but there's just no historical comparable as to how to value Haynesworth's contract in a trade. For the entire salary cap era, a contract like that was untradeable.

Like others have said, I feel confident in the new front office. I don't think MS and BA will trade away haynesworth unless we get fair compensation, or make a trade for Jackson if we have to give up more than he's worth.

When you compare our off-season to the rest of the NFL, its crazy how much the skins have changed. In April we were willing to sell our souls so that we'd be able to fix our qb and ol situation, and now that we have (just go with it), it seems we've just gone on a roll to keep making as many changes as we can, just for the sake of change. I would be much more inclined to see how all the pieces we've assembled fit together before assuming more of our existing players are inadequate.

My response to this is how do we know we don't already have the pieces to have an exciting passing game?

With the 2 TEs, Santana, Thomas, and a RB IE Parker or Portis.

I think we may have the makings of something potent already. We haven't seen any of them in KS's system.

You are right. We haven't seen them in KS system, but the coaches have and if they are trying to get Vincent Jackson what does that tell you about what they have seen so far. I really would like to see Haynesworthless traded to Seattle for two 2nds or a 2nd and 3rd and trade a 2nd for Jackson. But I also want six winning numbers and a lot of other things I probably will never get either.

Not sure if I would want another daft like this past one. One reason I am skeptical that things at Redskin Park have really changed all that much is the continued one sidedness of how the new FO seems intent on improving the team. Like the bad ole days of the Danny being soley in charge, our new FO had basically sabotaged its first draft to get McNabb, then hurt next years to get Brown. THe new FO hasn't been in "power" for a year, and it is business as usual. IF we get Jackson our next draft or two will be stunted even more. I am all for using free agency to build a team, but in conjunction with the draft. Thus far, it is still a one sided affair. Trent Williams and the other lineman were the only guys that we
drafted that really answered our needs. The TE, WR, etc we drafted were pretty much wastes. At least draft a CB for depth.

IF Jackson is a hot commodity on Shanny and Allen's list it tells me that Thomas and/or Kelly were not very impressive in the OTAs. Remember how quickly they got rid of MR Wonderful from Nevada? Half the people in here were enchanted with him, but not the new HC and GM. That action in itself not only tells me how screwed things were under Vinny, but how shitty we ourselves are as talent evaluaters.

Often it's all about timing, and the timing may not be so great to get VJ. Shanny is being smart and holding onto AH for the time being. All it takes is a major preseason injury to any dominant DT in a 4-3 system and we're looking at possibly a 1st rd pick for AH (we'll take a big hit cash wise as part of the deal but what else is new). Shanny may not want to give away our 2nd rd pick till he's gotten what he wants from AH.

If VJ goes sooner that AH leaving...then I could see TO signed afterward.

Mr wonderful and I are facebook frineds! LoL I agree bud. I am not trying to be a talent evauluater.

What if we are wrong though and Tana is the one they want to move to the slot? There is a chance for that to be the case.

Another thing is, and we have all known this for years. We do not have a bonafide NFL caliber #1 WR. Vincent is that guy, and they see a chance to make a move to change that.

I am not saying I want to trade the farm for VJ, I am just bringing up points as you did, and I like bringing questions to the board even though they often go unanswered!

Agreed, but the guy could come in and all could be forgotten. If he comes in shape and open to learning this D then he is here.

That is the best case scenario, I think your side is another side of being a good scenario.

You can apply the training camp injury to the Vincent Jackson trade situation as well. One injury to a top guy could get the Chargers more in terms of picks. That may be what is holding the Chargers from pulling the trigger on some sort of deal now.

I think they are asking a bit much. VJ isn't in the Brandon Marshall trade range for 2 2s or even a first right now. He is a step between Marshall and Santonio Holmes range. A ?? character guy, who has a suspension on the looming at the begining of the season. I would have taken SH over VJ for a fifth choice this year.

**SMOOT**

Can a player be fined daily for missing days in training camp? Or does that not apply to Mcniel or Jackson because they have not signed thier RFA tendered deals?

Also : Has Carlos signed his tender?

We might.. but we might not. This would be certifiable and maybe open up a trade for Haynesworth and a receiver for a 2nd or a 3rd and 4th or something
